So, the concept of reciting Salaam cannot be wrong...correct? SO WHY do these aunties make my blood boil like this?
Someone above said it right...the extravagance is on the Naat Khwan when they demand thousands in payment/fees and such. My mother gets invited by a lot of people...some she has never met before who ask her to simply come and recite because they want to have a Milad in their home. She has been offered gifts of cash (travel expenses and so on), clothes, you name it. She always says NO because this is Allah ka Kalaam and if I accept payment for it, I am putting a price on it.
The problem occurs when she is finishing the Milad sometimes - not always - and you have these women who will be so vocal about their objections to the Salaam. "Bidat hai ye, inse kahiya band karein!" I consider it to be a beautiful thing...standing up and sending Salaam and Durood to the Prophet (saw).
What do you say to such people?
