Miandad 'tipped' as a Team Coach

At the last paragraph of the article, it says, Javed Miandad has been ‘tipped’ as a team coach!

Dunno how true this news is. Anyone with latest news, please update all of us. Thanks!

**Former captain Javed Miandad is tipped to replace Richard Pybus as Pakistan team coach. Pybus’ contract was till the end of the ongoing World Cup. **

If he is the coach then Rashi latif will be leading the side and also expect Wasim to announce his retirement. PCB must adopt a zero tolerance policy. If Wasim is not happy with the coach then he should be forced to retire or face the Axe. Same goes with Shaoib Akhtar. Enough is enough. Basically PCB should eradicate the root or the cause of the team politics!

Agree, no player should get special treatment despite of their level of stardom, look at the Aussies, all their players are treated the same, there is no best batsman or best bowler, all of them perform at the same level.

well yes mein to shoaib and waseem k baghair match daikh sakta houn if its for the discipline of the team. Wasim is a legend and Shoaib is fast but even then they are not gr8er than the game itself.
They have made history and made us love the game even more but again they are cuz of cricket and cricket is not cuz of them.
So Ill not be sad to see them axed for a gr8er cause for the team.
And well Miandad can prove to be a good couch.(mager iss team k saath aik achha sa psychologist bhi hona chahiye)

If Miandad is going to be the coach he will need to blood a new team. Most of the seniors have fallen out with him in the past but a bunch of youngsters will probably fall in line. If I was Miandad I would make it clear that everybody gets picked on merit and application, senior or youngster. No need to officially retire anybody, they should either expect the same treatment as everyone else or retire gracefully themselves.

Although there is a case for Wasim to continue playing, I agree with what you are saying. It really would require a phenomenal effort from Wasim and Miandad to forget their differences. This maybe the right time for Wasim to say goodbye to the sport he has served so magnificently, and bow out on a reasonable high – unlike Waqar the baighairat :)

Miandad is a good choice as long as new blood is pumped into the team by the selectors else waiting for Miandad and senior players to mend their differences would be mere stupidity. With some players' lack of commitment to Pakistani cricket and team due to their other involvement e.g. county cricket etc. they don't deserve to be in the team. Youhana due to his lack of experience should be chosen at least for the VC role.

I don't follow cricket very closely, but what are the differences between senior players (Waseem specifically) and Javed Miandad?

so what if the oldies have fallen out with him??

at leat the youngsters look up to him and will def take and act on the advice given by miandad.

For many youngsters its a dream to actually meet this pakistani legend and I'm sure they will put in 100% with miandad as the coach.

only one person can handle our team and it is JaVeD MiaNDaD… :jhanda:

The differences arose in one of the matches played in Sharjah. Although Pakistan had reached the finals they were yet to play a pool match against England. This was the year of the Dubbai Shopping Festival. Waseem threw the match because the players wanted money for the shopping. There was a fight after Pakistan lost. Waseem and his gang decided that with Miandad around they will not be able sell their matches and ensured that Miandad was dropped as coach for the 99 World Cup. The results are there for all to see. PCB should get rid of the blackmailers in the team and get a fresh team of youngsters. This is the chance to axe them and ban some of them. Come on Tauqir Zia, show som b--ls.

These kind of accusations are dime-a-dozen and generally thrown around by disgruntled players/coaches with an axe to grind. Unless they can be substantiated they don't deserve to be aired.

I suppose he told you that he wont be able to go shopping unless he threw the match and took money. He was so broke he could not even buy a packet of cigarettes.

That's not the case, Brother.

In my view, Wasim has great respect for Miandad. He said so while speakin' at 500 wickets presentation to Ramiz Raja.

Aamir Sohail's name comes into my mind. He has always issues with Miandad. Then, as we all know, Aamir can't control his temper. Accordin' to Miandad, he didn't like the attitude of Aamir to Parssad in 96 WC Quater Final.

Moin Khan, on the other, could have issues with Miandad. But keep in mind, when Pakistan won Sharjah Cup last time in 2000, beating South Africa, Miandad was a Team Coach and Moin Khan was a Captain. :)

Rashid Latif, as sherrybaba stated, could become a Captain. He gets along with Miandad very well. Once in a while, Miandad vists Rashid Latif Cricket Academy in Karachi.

I'd recommend, we should play with both WK's, Moin as Batsman, Rashid as WK. Remember, we need to strengthen our batting line so that if we have to chase the target, we at least put a great fight no matter if we lose the game.

Miandad as a Team Coach, hell yeah. He's a walking Cricket School. I'm sure Afridi will learn discipline from him. Mind you, during Afridi's highest score, both in Test and ODI, Miandad was a Team Coach. Once Wasim said, no one will be able to teach Afridi. Miandad proved it wrong. :)

Exactly! Miandad handles young players really well. When Miandad was the coach, Afridi played really well. Ever since he left, Afridi has been :nook: with his batting. I think the oldies need to retire and we need Javed Miandad back!

Afridi can go screw himself....and anyone else who has problems with Miandad.

He's the only person who can bring the team back on the track...plus we need to get air tickets for Daryll Foster and all the other Farangis, we dont want them....having no respect for a our own heroes, we spend millions on jaahils like Pybus, who dont know jack.

Afridi never had problems with Miandad, Sharaabi. It was Miandad, who taught him how to play Cricket. Shahid has forgotten his lessons.

Javed can teach bowlers how to play. Remember, how Muhammad Sami became a Star over night; crushing Kiwis by 299 runs in the Test match? It was Javed's skills, who helped him. Sami took 8-106 and was a MoM. He's a good bowler but he seems to have forgotten his line and length. Pakistan's tour of South Africa is a proof.

Javed can teach batsmen how to bat, bowlers how to bowl. We need him, the whole damn nation wants desparately Javed back in action as a Coach. Players, who gotta problem Miandad, pack their bags and go to hell!
