You like your stats - I know he scored a double century in Oval against England but apart from this did he ever manage double century against other top bowling side away from his beloved tracks?
Don't make the mistake of comparing past greats like Miandad with modern day greats. A lot has changed (playing conditions, quality of bowling etc) between 80's and now which could bring bias in analyzing performances of players from different eras.
Just to give you an example 35 double centuries were scored between 1980 and 1990. Now compare that to 84 double centuries scored between 2000 and 2008.
^ No one is comparing past greats with the modern / current greats.
Golden Asif.
Apart fom Hadlee, I am not too sure what other good / great bowlers were in the New Zealand side when he got his 271.
Any way you still have not answered my previous question.
I am interested in your expert opinion whether big mouth Javed is the right person for the position which has especially been created for him (PCB Director of something.......) and whether he will be a success (if he doesn't resign again or gets sacked).
Re: Miandad reappointed as PCB Director
Miandad, Intikhab to be removed from PCB Governing Board - GEO.tv
Now that it is fashionable to say things in this form, Miandad is an epicenter of controversies in Pakistan cricket ![]()
I know he scored a double century in Oval against England but apart from this did he ever manage double century against other top bowling side away from his beloved tracks?
He scored 6 test double hundreds, which is the 2nd best record after Bradman.
I remember atleast 4 of these. 2 double hundreds against England, 1 against NZL, and 1 against India.
**well actually thts not a controversy …
member of governing body are suppose to be non-salaried …
while miandad n intikhab alam are payed employed …
so thts y they were removed :p**
^ No one is comparing past greats with the modern / current greats.
To answer your question, Miandad had 5 double centuries during 1980s. I already told you that there were 35 double centuries made in 1980s and needless to say Miandad had the most number of them (3 in Pakistan against India, Srilanka, Australia, 1 in England and 1 in NZ). Impressively his double cneturies were spread out over ten years during that decade (1983, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1989)
Closest to him with the most number of double centuries durng 80's was Greenidge and Chappell with 3 double centuries each.
Greenidge had 2 double centuries in England during the same tour in 1984 and then 1 in NZ in 1987.
Chappell has 2 double centuries against Pakistan in 1980 and 1981 and 1 against India in 1980.

This below part from your post made me say what I said.
As a coach no doubt he can provide useful tips to batsmen from his experience but I don't think he has the qualities / ability of modern head coaches.
By the way, is this your every day tone, is this how you talk in your daily life too? Always bitter?

Could not agree more. A lot of the things are in batsmen's favour these days

I don't know what we have to do to convince you that Miandad was a great great batsman. It is only right and fair to compare batsmen of the same era and Miandad had the most test double hundreds among his contemporaries - (6) followed by Greenidge, Zaheer, Gavaskar & Greg Chappell (4 each) and Viv Richards (3) :)
As I have said it many times before among his contemporaries I would only put Viv Richards above Miandad because the former was just awesome and destructive. Gavaskar and Miandad were about the same in tests but Miandad was a far superior one-day player. Border similarly had a poor one-day record
And there should be no doubt about Miandad's coaching abilities and technical know-how even if his communication and manmanagement skills are debatable. He has one of the shrewdest and sharpest minds in the game; ask Ian Chappell, ask Imran, ask Botham, ask Gavaskar, ask Viv Richards, ask any player from his era..
And it is nonsense to say that only Miandad benefited from home umpires. Everyone did incl. Viv Richards, Gavaskar, Australian players (they were some of the most biased umpires around), English players (remember David Constant, Kitchen and the infamous Palmer brothers) etc.
Re: Miandad reappointed as PCB Director
So since Miandad was a great batsman, it is right to make him the PCB Director.
Interesting logic.

No because he has a sharp mind, and knows a lot about cricketing matters. As explained by Golden Asif in the previous post, Miandad's man-management skills might not be up to par, but his cricketing genius is beyond doubt.
I think Miandad will do ok in any job which does not involve him coming into direct contact with the players all the time. That said players notably Yousuf and even the uncoachable Afridi have benefited from his batting tips in the past. A lot of Miandad’s man-management problems are sadly down to his lack of education but no one should really doubt his commitment and knowledge of the game. This post offers Miandad the ideal opportunity to oversee the development of cricket in Pakistan with the emphasis shifting back from regions to departments and private organisations. As director, Miandad has big plans to revamp Pakistan’s domestic cricket.

Lets deal with you first.........
It's not my problem if the statement I wrote your 'khopri' does not understand.
Read it again and may be with the aid of glasses and try to understand what I am trying to state.
Does the statement any where suggest that 'he is being made the coach'. Yes, there is a mention of the word 'coach' but no where suggesting that he has been made the coach.
For your info this is not my every day tone ..............
Am I bitter about what?

The question about his double centurties was already answered by Robert in post 46.
Yes, Miandad has big plans to transform Pakistan cricket, just like the leaders of Pakistan who had plans to provide roti, kapra & makan and plus much more.

Dude, either you don't know anything about self-respect or you don't have one. In this post you have expressed what you are, kapish. I am not going to respond any of your idiotic posts.

but what was not included in post 46 and what you conveniently ignored in my post was the comparison with other players from the same era.

I don't need lectures about self respect from you........
If you are not going to respond than do I really care? No.
I am not going to miss anything ......

But I wasn't comparing Javed with players from his era and this was already stated in post 43.
