but you are not saying that good players always make bad coaches. Unless you say that, we will keep giving it a shot.
Let me rephrase it - good players have not always made good coaches; this doesn't mean that that will be the case in the future.

According to Cricinfo stats in ODIs Imran has a winning percentage of 55.92 and Javed 43.22 and in Test it is 29.16 and 41.17 respectively.
Re: Miandad reappointed as PCB Director
According to express news paper … Butt sahib will resign in few days (making excuse of poor health)

Miandad is a smart individual, and his cricket credentials and acumen are beyond doubt. I believe he can still offer a lot to Pakistan cricket, certainly much more than Ijaz Butt.
So he was a success as a coach than?
Yes Miandad was...
Pakistan got to the 1999 WC Final mainly because of Miandad's efforts IMO. Yes he resigned at the wrong time but he had already built a team by then. Most of the combinations he tried during the Sharjah Cup which preceded the WC in England worked. Akhtar had started to come into his own and Pakistan after a long time seemed to have a settled batting and bowling combination.
TERA KIYA HOGA----Yawar Saeed? Sallu?
mera kuch nahin hoga ![]()
the point is?
Jokes aside, Miandad is one of the greatest players we produced. He scored 6 test double hundreds, against the top nodge bowling attacks. We need committed individuals like to him, to make a change. So what, if he is bad in public or media relationship.
completely agree with you my friend. Our problem is that we always tend to forget what our greats have done in the past for us.
I admit that Miandad has not been consistent while working at PCB however I believe he can make a change provided he could work under someone who can use him properly. He might not be equipped with modern coaching technology however the young blood can still use his vast experience for improving their game.
Re: Miandad reappointed as PCB Director
DAWN.COM | - Cricket | China has potential to host Pakistan matches: Miandad
So how many Pakistanis are in China? 100, 1000, 100,000? How concentrated are they? How popular is cricket in China?
May be t his will help u ![]()
Miandad appointed China’s cricket adviser
both were successful players as well as captains I don't know if you think a successful captain is one who wins a world cup too. Mentioned percentages show their captainship records were very good also don't forget that time ratio of drawn matches was very high.

bhai jaan, I'll ask again, what is the point of having great results as a batsman or even as captain? Miandad failed in coaching stints of our cricket team, and now he is given higher authority.
I can just hope and pray this time he will deliver and not cause issues in the team aameen.
Re: Miandad reappointed as PCB Director
Anyways it does not matter, since there is going to be no cricket.
I am not sure it was because of Miandad’s modern coaching methods or the players Pakistan had that time i.e. Akram, Saeed Anwar, Actor etc that the team became steady.
Yes Pakistan did get to the 1999 World Cup Final and got strangled by Australia.](http://content.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/65234.html)
Over the last few years Pakistan has produced a very talented and exciting World class young batsman Faisal Iqbal.
He may have benefited and from his famous uncle’s coaching ability.
Those test stats are slightly misleading. Not saying Miandad was a bad skipper but most of his test wins were at home barring the 2-1 win in England (5-test Rubber) in 1992 and the one-off test in NZ in 1992.
Imran’s figures would be more impressive but for his nakhrapan. He declined to lead Pakistan in two test series in the late 1980s because he felt the opposition was too weak (and he was not wrong either..) and he could not motivate himself to play. NZ visited Pakistan minus Hadlee and SLA were a weak test side back then. Pakistan white washed both NZ and SLA 3-0, both results gleefully accepted by Miandad!!
Aside from leading Pakistan to WC victory in 1992, Imran’s accomplishments include:
Golden Asif - seriously do you think he is the right person for this type of job? Some people have stated that this position was specially created for him (may be to keep his mouth shut).
He may also be coaching (or at least trying to coach the Chinese) and how will he combine this with his position with the PCB?
As a coach no doubt he can provide useful tips to batsmen from his experience but I don't think he has the qualities / ability of modern head coaches.
Also - you stated that most of his wins were at home. Is it true that he was never given out on '0' or given 'LBW' when playing at home?
You like your stats - I know he scored a double century in Oval against England but apart from this did he ever manage double century against other top bowling side away from his beloved tracks?
Re: Miandad reappointed as PCB Director
^ he is being appointed "Director" of PCB, not coach of the team. Hopefully he'll see the line there.

Yes he did, 271 against Hadlee and co. in 1989
