Cowell IS engaged (and he wants little Simons)

**He said he would never tie the knot, calling marriage an ’ outdated contract’ and shuddering any time the word commitment was mentioned. But Simon Cowell has eaten his words, it seems, and proposed to make-up artist Mezghan Hussainy after months of self-searching in the wake of turning 50. The news follows days of speculation after Miss Hussainy, 36, was pictured sporting a dazzling Graff £250,000 diamond on her wedding finger.

Cowell has remained quiet on the reports, but the Daily Mail has learned he popped the question weeks ago. A friend said: 'Simon loves Mezghan, it’s as simple as that. He’s an incredibly instinctive person and this is just right.
'When he turned 50 in October, he was forced to evaluate things and really think about what he wanted from life.

'Mezghan has been by his side for months now, she cared for him the other week when he was so sick he was forced to miss Britain’s Got Talent auditions.
‘This is something that Simon isn’t telling many people, but they are engaged. Mezghan is a great girl and extremely down to earth.’

Three years ago, the TV and pop music tycoon told the Daily Mail that marriage was an ‘outdated contract’. ‘It’s nuts - needs to be overhauled,’ he said, before admitting the thought of handing over half of his fortune in a court years down the line terrified him. But he has since declared he is ‘smitten’ with Afghanistan-born Miss Hussainy. According to audience members watching Piers Morgan film a TV interview with him on Tuesday, Cowell said: 'She’s the one.

‘She’s very special. You know when you’ve found somebody very special.’

And speaking about children, Cowell - usually known for his sharp tongue - showed his softer side, saying: ‘I think I need to have little Simons around.’
The couple have been dating for six months - although they actually met seven years ago on the set of American Idol - but appeared in public together for the first time earlier this month.

Last night Cowell’s spokesman insisted: ‘Simon’s private life is private.’
The star, who has an estimated fortune of £130million, normally keeps his romantic life under wraps. He split with model Terri Seymour in November 2008 after six years. Miss Hussainy, who has been married once before, left her last boyfriend, Alejandro Saavedra, in March last year. They lived together in Los Angeles. Yesterday, Mr Saavedra, 31, admitted: ‘I can’t get over her. I just can’t move on without her.’

I think she’s Muslim (her parents definitely are), will be interesting to see how this pans out, have also read she wants to take him to visit Afghanistan..

There is no such thing as a "non-practicing" Muslim, you're either a Muslim or you aren't.

Non-practicing Muslim is an Oxymoron. You can't be a non-submitting submitter. LOL

^ Dude, half the "muslims" around the globe think they're muslims (not because the fast during ramadan but) because they celebrate eid! Not because they say their prayers but because they believe in Allah as their creator. Because they believe in Quran. Belief to them, is everything. As Mr. SRK said "Its more important for me to feel muslim than to act muslim". Phuleezz!

So I'm guessing she believes in Allah? So according to the present times, she is a muslim. Or as some people like to say... "Moderate Muslim". A non-submitting submitter basically.

Did she ever claim to be Muslim?

Just because her parents are from Afghanistan and she has an Arabic last name doesn't mean that she has to be a moderate Muslim or Muslim at all. Her parents could be Atheist Marxists. Would also explain her not so Muslim lifestyle.

And even If her parents are Muslim, it doesn't automatically mean that she's a moderate Muslim.

She's a bit bland and masculine for my tastes..

I'm not a great fan of girls from NW-Pakistan/Afghanistan (I'm not being racist, I'm Pashtun myself)...

I prefer the prettier masala dusky-beauty mystical look.

hmm according to islam, whoever believes in kalma tayyab is muslim...
now if he/she drinks, sleeps around etc. is another thing...that doesnt make him/her non-muslim!!!! :)

^ So true, am sure she is Muslim, just not very practising, if we were all judged according to how practising we were wouldn't that mean the majority of us who don't wear hijab may not be classed as 'real' Muslims as well? Anyway, good luck to her, I think she looks great for her age..

I dont like the practising Muslim label because our religioin is deeper than just praying 5 times a day, going to hajj, fasting. Almost all Muslims practise at least 1 bit of the religion.

Muslims should not use words like moderate, practising.

As for her well she is an easy target for labelling - she does not dress modestly, she spends time alone with an unrelated man alone not only that but she is dating him - they touch so its not a "Halal date" and she is marrying a non-muslim man.
