The OP could have been talking about a medical problem that got severely derailed by page two and then by page 25 people are joking about inane things like kaddu and socks and jokes that only other fellow Cafe’ites understand. So. It’s like the living dead. Frankenstein. A limbo b/w life n death. Horrible fate.

Yes, you are right in that liking a few posts doesn’t equate to liking a forum on the whole. And one doesn’t have to be a frequent poster to have a general idea about a forum; perusal is sufficient. It’s just a forum. Moderating it doesn’t make it one’s own baby jisay janam dia ho…right? So, then it’s okay if some members are not crazy about it or prefer one forum over another. :k:
Moderating and keeping a forum running and a place where someone, anyone, wants to come back and post in does take a lot of work. And when one hears undue criticism about all the hard work one is putting in, from someone who doesn’t really venture in said forum, it does irk us as moderators. So in that case, yeah, the forums that we manage are our babies. If you see a kid in the supermarket for 2 minutes throwing a tantrum, is it fair to label that child as a misbehaving brat and criticize the parents, when in reality that kid could be having an off day?
Cafe is and has always been an open place where anyone is welcome to relax and not be constantly serious and be on point, and Cafe has a reputation of being a crazy forum, accepted. However it’s not fair when you constantly criticize Cafe and it’s environment without ever stepping into it, even for just about 5 minutes/5 posts. Even now in this thread you have come only to criticize what Cafe is like. What Cafe is now is not what it was like 3 years ago, and what Cafe was 3 years ago is not what it was 6 years ago. It constantly changes, and we as moderators work very hard indeed to keep it a lively, fun place, and don’t mind if constant flooding isn’t going on (which you also objected to, but then again you also objected to it being a place where threads go to die), as long as this is the place where people do feel they don’t have to constantly serious. So please, before you throw a wide blanket of distaste over a forum, go post in it, and then say something.

The thing about human nature is that we see someone doing something even twice…we think they do it constantly. A member voiced concurrence with a view of mine and I found it funny, so I posted. The same member had previously said that a life 1 thread should be moved to cafe and I expressed a similar opinion there as well. Out of the several people here who enjoy this forum, if I am but one among them who is not very drawn to it…why are you so bothered? Yes, I am aware that Cafe is a place of non-seriousness and inanity where there is naturally a greater tolerance for the thread to veer off-track as it’s not meant to be as serious as the other forums; that is the trait I had remarked upon. My post was also meant to be humorous, but you did not find it so…and that’s fine. I did not intend any criticism toward the quality of moderation of this forum or blame/mock the mods of this forum in my former post…so I am surprised at the child in the supermarket analogy. Was this thread formerly in the General forum or has it been in cafe? I posted here after a long and tiring day of errands and maybe misread it to be in General. I understand that you don’t care to see any negative posts about Cafe in ANY forum, but in the event that you thought that I nad some deliberate intent to venture into Cafe and bash it, I want to clarify that I thought that this thread was in another forum…and it could be that I misread it.
Mujhay bataao, Ess Emm, what doesn’t “irk” you moderators? In the life forum, a member mocked my post length and you came along and showed support. So post length must be irksome to mods as well, I suppose…or is that just specific to you? It was a form of bullying and the said member who had made such cracks had done so several times during the almost 6 years I have been here and no mod EVER found that behavior excessive or said that the mocking was “constant.” Is tarha ki baaton ko report na kia jaaye to koi ghaur nahi karta…par baqi sab nazar aata hai. You, too, have produced some lengthy posts…I’ve never mocked you for them. But after that incident, I admit I lost respect for you as a mod. There are several posters here that enjoy this forum…I doubt that my opinion will make them stop posting here. It’s commendable that you’re passionate about moderation duties, but I think moderation is about more than just managing the quality of your own assigned forum and vehemently defending your forum to a member who is not a fan. It also includes having an awareness of how you’re interacting with other non-mod members outside your assigned forum. I can only speak from my own experience, but yes, I’m afraid you do bite.
‘You Moderators’? Do you know how many bullying idiotic members we have banned esp since I was made Director? How many idiots who keep making multis and coming back? (to a forum they admit they despise). I have never seen a reported post from you, so with all due respect I find it a bit surprising you’re complaining about being bullied despite never bringing it to anyone’s attention. Any bullying members (we all know who they were) have been booted out just for this sick behavior of attacking others.
As for Cafe, the complaints before used to be that its childish etc but the last year or so we have tried to change the u ko me ko culture so I hope more people will come and post here. So calling it ‘between life and death, a horrible fate’ and calling cafe posters armpits and you expect Cafe Mods to give you a thapki on the back after they spend hours everyday to try and change the forum? I am afraid it doesn’t work like that. If tomorrow someone on GS says how sh1t GS is then my opinion will be the same.
I think you’re a quality poster who never attacks someone else and I count you as a friend. Just wanted to add my two cents.
