5 verses completely explain the life cycle of a mankind, and this is such an exemplary example that no human could put this down in just 5 sentences with such deep meaning.

Two of my favorite verses:
"They say, 'Fire will not touch us save a number of days.' Ask, 'Have you taken a promise from God that he will not go against it, or do you say concerning God that which you do not know?' But whoever committed evil and his error surrounded him, they are the people of Fire, they shall dwell in it forever. And whoso believed and did righteous deeds, they are the people of Paradise, they will remain in it forever." (Quran 2:80-82)
"Do you believe in part of the Scripture and disbelieve you in part thereof? And what is the reward of those who do so save ignominy in the life of the world, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be consigned to the most grievous doom. For God is not unaware of what you do."(Quran 2:85)

Beautiful thread but I would just like to say that I think there is a differnce between ‘Ayahs having profound impact on you’ and ‘favorite ayahs’
We cannot/should not differentiate between the ayahs of the Quran. This, ofcourse, would not be same as saying ‘such and such ayah had an impact on me and my way of life’

^ Of course there is a difference. How else would someone get to pick and chose and customize a version of Islam for himself.

First of all, the Ayaah doesn't say Islam it says **Deen, **which means any social/political/economic system, because deen is bigger and encompasses much more than religion does, which is commonly translated into arabic as Madhab.
And secondly while they state this Ayaah and explicitly mention Islam (wrongly) in the Ayaah, these people have absolutely no Issue when other Unislamic Deens, are coerced upon nations that opted to chose to live by the Shariah (for ex.) way. Hint: Somalia
Hence the chosing and picking and the distortion of Ayaahs to meet the desires of their petty souls.

I believe this is in response to my saying ‘favorite verses’. Irrespective of whether this concept is correct or not, I intended to imply ‘my favorite’ in the sense of having a significant bearing on my life, and influencing my understanding of what God wants from me.

And (remember) the Day on which the Trumpet will be blown and all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth, will be terrified except him whom All will (exempt). And all shall come to Him humbled.
And you will see the mountains and think them solid, but they shall pass away as the passing away of the clouds. The Work of All Who perfected all things, verily! He is Well-Acquainted with what you do.
Whoever brings a good deed (i.e. Belief in the Oneness of All along with every deed of righteousness), will have better than its worth, and they will be safe from the terror on that Day.
And whoever brings an evil (deed) (i.e. Shirk polytheism, disbelief in the Oneness of All and every evil sinful deed), they will be cast down (prone) on their faces in the Fire. (And it will be said to them) "Are you being recompensed anything except what you used to do?"
