These gora's only feel the pain when it hit's them in their pockets.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

From a point of arrogance to a point of backtracking the danes are apologizing luke warm at best but the only way these arrogant westerners will stop with there disgraceful insults against prophets of islam, is when they face economic hardship and boycotts and the boycotts at the moment are minimal in effect there needs to be boycotts that will bite did someone mention oil?

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

uhhhhh... Denmark is an exporter of oil, so that won't work.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Yeah, a Norwegian newspaper republished the cartoons, not too long ago. Set the whole thing off again.

Is it so wrong to protest with banners? Freedom of expression, right? So I guess those banners are just expressing how they feel about the cartoons.

Question: How do you protest without banners and chants? Isn’t that basically the whole point of demonstrations, to get the message across effectively with chants and banners???

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

dimwit if you actually read what was posted it was about the west, denmark is not the entire west you need glasses and geography lessons like your dimwit President Bush! As for denmark cryign like little girls to the WTO because their products have been boycotted oh well time to pay the piper in more ways than one!

Re: Made in Denmark!

and this from someone thats labels everyone muslim fanatic have you heard of the word hypocrisy add to that liar then you hit the nail on the head!

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Isn't this thread about Denmark? Now it is about the west? Why, because everything can be stereotyped about the west in your little angry world? Perhaps you should give you exclamation point key a rest, stop with the name-calling and go study Denmark's economy so you know what you can boycott.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Goldy dear, the issue is banners that advocate violence and murder as some of those Al-Muhajiroon members were carrying in London on Friday. It doesn’t bode well with the peaceful image we like to give about Islam. In fact it only adds more to the negative stereotypes about muslims and provides critics with more fuel.

Another dawa opportunity gone down the drain :disgust:

Re: Made in Denmark!

Lurpak is BIG in Saudi Arabia! In Mecca, Medina and Jeddah alone, their products are in all food stores. Lurpak butter is in most places (in hotels anyway) the only type of butter served. I had it every morning with my toast :)

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

^

that's true.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Golddigger, starsky has clearified my stance. It's sad to see people going to extremes. Just a little while ago I saw how a Danish and perhaps Norwegian (sp.?) embassies have been torched.

It only adds on to the negative image that Muslims have. We could've had peaceful demonstrations with banners requesting newspapers and governments to speak up against the publication of cartoons rather than writing strong messages. I'm sure there are plenty other ways to get one's message across rather than going to extremes.

Re: Made in Denmark!

Never again :D!

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Yes, Danish and Norwegian embassies were burnt. Reason: rumors that Danes were going to burn the Quran. There were quite a few demonstrations in Denmark today, and there were rumors going around all day yesterday that they were actually going to do it, which was why there was police everywhere, and several people were arrested because they were causing too much trouble.

Also, the director of Jyllands Posten, the newspaper, said that the burning of the embassies was the fault of Muslims in Denmark. What did we do?! It's not our fault that the media got the wrong message across and therefore there were a few embassies burnt down. If there were rumors going around, the media shouldn't have spread them even further, and it shouldn't be blamed on the Muslims living in Denmark, since they had nothing to do with it.

Don't forget that when the cartoons were first published, there were no such extremities. The Prime Minister refused to work things out in a peaceful manner with other governments, and the newspaper refused to apologise. It could have been settled then. It really wasn't necessary for the cartoons to be published again, and they should have known it would spark something like this. Twice is two times too many.

Chicago food distributor SUSPENDS all Business with Denmark-based Arla Foods

Ziyad Brothers Importing, one of the largest distributors of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food products, announced today it SUSPENDED all business with Denmark-based Arla Foods. Nemer Ziyad, vice president of Ziyad Brothers Importing, said the decision is in response to the insulting and offensive caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed published by Denmark’s leading newspaper, Jyllands-Posten, and the growing controversy. “I am furious with what the newspaper did. I am disappointed with the hesitation of the Government of Denmark to speak out against this. I support free speech, but I believe that we must speak out when free speech crosses the line and incites hatred, as the publication of these extremely offensive cartoons have done,” Ziyad said. “We have enjoyed a relationship with Arla Foods, acting as the exclusive distributor of three of its most popular products here in the United States. We are encouraged that this issue may be resolved, but until it is properly resolved, we must take this action”

Ziyad Brothers Importing is the exclusive American distributor for two of Arla’s most popular products, Puck Cheese and Puck Cream, and Lurpak Butter. Ziyad said the three food items are very popular with customers. Ziyad said the decision to suspend the product line will have a significant impact on Ziyad Brothers Importing revenues, but added, “We will always stand by and support our community.” Ziyad said, “This isn’t just about being Muslim or Arab. What Jyllands-Posten did crossed the line. It is wrong. I would do the same thing in any other similar circumstance involving any other religion. All people have a responsibility to speak out whenever an act of hateful incitement occurs and touches on the community.”

**QCCI not to receive trade delegations from Denmark, Norway **

Doha: The Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) said yesterday it will not receive any trade delegations from Denmark and Norway. “We have decided not to entertain any trade missions form the two countries until further notice,” the Chamber said in a statement, denouncing the newspaper cartoons in the two countries that caricatured the Prophet (PBUH). The Chamber has called on foreign companies to stop dealing in the products and services from the two countries. “We urge the companies to boycott Danish and Norwegian products to express solidarity with the people in Qatar,” the QCCI statement said. Nationals and expatriates have also been asked to boycott products and services from the two countries. The Chamber has forwarded letters to the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Dammam to coordinate the boycott action vis-à-vis Danish and Norwegian products and services regionally. The traders of the GCC have been urged to boycott the products and services of the countries.

The Arab Chambers of Commerce and Industry based in Beirut has also been asked to place on agenda a discussion on the boycott at a meeting of the federation beginning in Cairo this morning. The QCCI communication to the GCC and Arab chmabers’ federations has been signed by Ibrahim Fakhroo, general manager, and addressed to Mohamed Abdullah Al Mulla, secretary general of the Federation of the GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and Ileyas Ghantoos, secretary general of the Federation of Arab Chambers. The move follows the silence of the governments of the two countries to apologise for the newspaper cartoons caricaturing the Prophet. “The Chamber condemns the cartoons and deplores attempts to insult Islam or any other religion under the pretext of freedom of expression,” said the Chamber statement. “It is sad that the governments of the two countries have so far not issued any apology.” The Chamber expresses solidarity with “the people on the streets in Qatar and the rest of the Islamic world and their feelings”, the statement said. The people believe the boycott is the practical way to express protest, said the Chamber.

**Norway’s deputy FM apologizes for cartoons during Beirut visit **

Norway’s Deputy Foreign Minister Raymond Johansen, who is making an official visit to Lebanon, reiterated his country’s apology at a meeting on Wednesday with Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani for caricatures in a Norwegian magazine that depicted Prophet Mohammed as a terrorist. “I apologize in the name of the Norwegian government for the caricatures illustrating Prophet Mohammed but I also stressed the importance of the freedom of expression in the country’s constitution”, he said after the meeting. He also stressed the need to promote mutual respect between all communities. Qabbani said the Danish newspaper that originally published the cartoons should publicly apologize and the Norwegian magazine Magazinat ought to publish an article about the true life of Prophet Mohammed and the history of Islam. “There might be secret plans to destroy the relations between Europe and the Arab world, so we should promote mutual respect and avoid hurting each other,” he added. The Muslim Scholars’ Gathering held a meeting Tuesday in the presence of representatives of the Higher Shiite Council, the Islamic Tawheed, Hizbullah and other Islamic groups to discuss the caricatures. The gathering called for a boycott of Danish and Norwegian products in protest at the caricatures that were published in the Danish daily Jyllands-Posten last September and reprinted in a Norwegian magazine earlier this month. The caricatures depicted Prophet Mohammed as a terrorist wearing a turban shaped as a bomb with a burning fuse. The participants said “Danish and Norwegian products should be boycotted until the issue is resolved.”

They added that “diplomatic representation of both countries should be decreased in all Arab countries until the two governments announce their apologies to all Muslims.” It would be more appropriate, they continued, if the European Commission itself condemned the caricatures rather than spent time warning Islamic countries not to boycott Danish products. “The participants condemned the position of the European Commission, in which it threatened governments in Muslim countries with taking the issue to the World Trade Organization if those governments decided on a boycott,” a statement issued by the gathering said. They also denounced the Danish Prime Minister’s refusal to meet with the ambassadors of Islamic countries. The statement urged the European people to “understand and respect the principles of the Islamic religion in order to promote coexistence.” In a statement issued Tuesday, Prime Minister Fouad Siniora stressed the need to distinguish between “the freedom of the press and respect for religious beliefs.” It continued: “The premier urged the Danish and Norwegian authorities to take necessary measures to preserve the dignity of Muslims, who were offended by such acts.” Al-Jamaa al-Islamiya also called on all the Lebanese- Muslims in particular- to boycott Danish and Norwegian products.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Those who dared insult our Master, only the grave is just for them!

Re: Made in Denmark!

Good. All these ppl who are suprised by the outrage, they cannot understand that we place the Messenger above our families, lives and all. My rage is building up each time I see people defend those dirty beings who dared invoke the name of the Messnger of Allah!

I support the boycotting of such nations, just as I have been Boycotting Israeli goods for years.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Golddigger, interesting. Thanks for sharing. I had no idea that the locals vowed to burn copies of Quran. This bit of news was never broadcasted here.
