[Merged] Denmak in a sorry state

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Well from this saga i know what people will realise, you can't just go around insulting the islamic belief and if they do then they know they will have started a fire and they have no one to blame but themselves!

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Do you really believe so, there were Fatwa's against people, did it stop people from doing things. Fatwas have just become irrelevant today. They gave one against Sania as well. This just tell some bad beans that there is an opportunity to become famous/ infamous quickly, hence they would do it again. Salman Rushdie, case in point, I didn't even know who this guy is before Fatwa. Now I know people are reading his books all over the world.
This also tells lots of peace loving people that they can't control whole population (like Danes), and act of one will lead to whole Islamic world raising in violent revolt against all of them. Hence they will get a view of Islam that its inflexible and rigid.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

There are laws against libel in these countries so it prooves there are limits to freedom of speech yet when it comes to insulting peoples belief in this manner it shows the hypocrisy of such laws they want freedom to say one thing but scared to hell to say another because they would be sued the laws are contradictory in itself!

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

The likes of Denmark and Norway first believed that this was all about “freedom of speech”, but now just cannot stop apologizing. People only apologize if they have something to be sorry about, and if they have done something wrong. Worldwide Muslim pressure made these Nordic upstarts say sorry, and that is something to be proud of. :k:

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

It’s not Muslims pressure that make them worried, It’s acts like these: CNN.com - Protesters burn consulate over cartoons - Feb 5, 2006
This is nothing to be proud of. This just reinforces the image people have about Muslims, and validates the satire in the cartoons.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

^
If you check the Danes were saying sorry before those occurrences.

Anyway those acts are nowhere near the kind of evile deeds the Danes have committed in Iraq.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

I can get someone to apologize by holding a gun to their head too. But I wouldn't have the nerve to say that my tactics to get the apology were something to be proud of. And I wouldn't expect the apology to be sincere.

Re: Made in Denmark!

I get shocked when our own Muslim brothers say that we ourselves our ignorant and not the other way around.. :(

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Nobody was holding guns to their heads when started sorrying many days ago.

But there are many more apologies to be said before Denmark and the like are let off the hook.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

To be honest i don’t think the apologies are genuine because they say sorry then say But we have freedom of speech basically they saying they would do it again if they wanted to!

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

There is definitely a law in Denmark about blasphemy such as the cartoons. The foreign affairs dude said himself today that "freedom of speech" is not unlimited, and that there are laws about how far "freedom of speech" can go... Yep, there is no end to contradiction and hypocrisy...

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

And there is explaining and backtracking before Islam is off the 'propensity to violence' hook as well.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

One of the things that still needs to be extracted from the Danes, is that they will never do this again. Negotiations are continuing.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

"The Danes" didn't publish these cartoon. The Danish government isn't responsible for these cartoons. You expect them to pass a law that exempts Muslims from public discourse? Good luck. Sorry, but you just aren't that special.

BTW, you are as guilty as stereotyping as Islamaphobes are when calling Muslims terrorists.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Never heard of someone apologising on someone else's behalf? The media is Danish, no? The government is Danish. So, what the media says and does, reflects on the country as a whole, no? Thus, the government should be concerned about what the media puts out into the open. Unless they themselves agree with it and don't think it wrong.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Thats is true but i don’t think they will do that, you know how arrogant these westerners are the only way they will stop the insults is when they are hit severely economically then they will change their tune!

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Oh, just like some expect Muslims to apologize for the Islamofacists terrorizing the globe? Is Saudi Arabia apologizing of OBL? Does Pakistan apologize for the radicals that chant death to America? Once again, gross double standards. NO ONE is going to establish laws to prohibit free speech, so get over it.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Yes the news paper expressed fascist views.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Good point. If the Danish government is not responsible for it’s gutter media, then why is it apologizing? In fact the Danish government is contradicting exactly what it said in the early days, when it would not also not even meet envoys from Muslim countries.

Re: Denmak in a sorry state

Somebody must have been holding a gun to the head of the Vatican as well?

Vatican: Don’t mock any religion

The Vatican Friday criticized western media for inflaming the Muslim world by running derogatory cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed. Cardinal Archille Silvestrini, head of the Vatican’s department for Eastern Churches, told the Corriere della Sera freedom is not an absolute. The Muslim world is furious over a cartoon that first appeared in a Danish newspaper depicting Mohammed wearing a head covering that actually was a lit bomb. The initial uproar prompted newspapers across Europe this week to reprint the offending caricature to emphasize press freedom. “We, too, here in Europe, should rebel against the idea of mocking religious symbols,” Silvestrini said. “Freedom to satirize which offends other people’s feelings becomes prevarication.” The Italian news agency ANSA reported other clerics support Silvestrini’s position. “Freedom of the press, including satire, must stop where religious belief begins,” said Cardinal Ersilio Tonini, former archbishop of Ravenna . “There should be more respect for religion, whatever religion it is. What has happened over the last few days is an ugly, very ugly sign which should make us think.”
