Recently my bro complained to my mom saying ama! he pees while standing up. I guess he noticed it after years now? 
any way so ama said you need to pee while sitting… wth!!! She said it’s forbidden in Islam…
Now some one tell me what did people do back in the days when they didn’t have toilets?

It is forbidden by the prophet:saw: to urinate while standing for it can lead you to get splash of the urine on your clothes and/or body.
In another hadeeth, it is told that if one wants to avoid the punishment in the grave, then one of things is to avoid getting splashes of urine.
See, if you can relate the two.
However, the bottom line for a muslim should be that it is forbidden by none other than the Prophet of Allah:swt: himself.

for cryin out they used to sit down and piss btw ppl still do hvnt u ever seen a desi toilet u hv to sit on ur feet and the hv a piss. and there plenty of places were ppl dont hv toilets in the world its not impossible to hv piss wen ur sittin down

okay lets say u are in the middle of a desrt and u need to go for #1 and #2, do you first take a leak standing up and then squat to take a dump or do you do both standing up or do you squat for both.

Different cultures did it in different ways.
The two historic options were squat or stand.

I think while standing up there isn't much splash but while sitting there is cause it bounces back and hits your butt cheeks which I guess means you have urine on your body which is haram.
How do you avoid that/!?!

You urinate standing up and them move to firmer ground to defecate. After all, the ground would become soggy after you urinate upon it.

It would be better if you did # 2 first and then to end it all did # 1 on top of it with aim. That way not only do you make much less of a mess but also you can have all your sh!t together.

I think that with male plumbing we have less of a splashback problem than women would. After all, we have some directional control and can target an area above the waterline in the bowl.
I for one have never ever encountered splashback problems as a result of urinating whilst seated.
