Re: Men who are not against polygamy
:k:
I think the ayah of allowing 4 marriages for men is in women’s favour. It’s upto a woman to choose to live with the man and receive all the rights or leave him.

Re: Men who are not against polygamy
what about 50 year old marrying 10 year old??
Why, you're planning to marry a 10 year old?
Re: Men who are not against polygamy
Any guy who truly loves his wife will not even mention multiple wives and even if he doesn’t I don’t think its fair on the wife at all. And I doubt any man would like it if his wife married four men :halo:

If you find this thought disgusting then you shouldn't even be asking such question.

I know why you asked this question. I don't care if you didn't ask me but the answer to your question is that Islam don't allow a 10 year old's marriage at all.

maybe we should stop here, I wasn't OP and i don't want original topic to shift.
Re: Men who are not against polygamy
Any men or women here who are against polygamy? If you are Muslim, how do you reconcile this attitude of yours with your faith?
My stance is actually in line with that of my faith's. In the Quran it clearly states that men can marry more than once in the case of taking care of widows and orphans, but only if they treat each wife equally and justly. And then it goes on to state that they surely cannot do that (sura 4, verse 129). So I know there have been generations of men justifying polygamy and twisting and ignoring the Quran to make it work, but they are going against the Quran when they do it. The Prophet SAW was better than all other men, but the Quran clearly states the guidelines for the rest of us, and polygamist men break the rules each time. They will have Allah SWT to answer to.
Re: Men who are not against polygamy
Are you okay with your mothers being co-wives?
I don't know. I can't guess how I would feel unless put in such a situation but people who I do know in that situation don't seem to mind it.

Are you okay with having step-siblings?

Sure.

Are you okay with your daughters being co-wives?

See answer to the first question.

Not as long as the man fulfills the rights of it (or at least makes a sincere effort to).

I have met only two so far who have voiced their opinion. One of them is a young man who actually finds the concept 'disgusting.' I was very surprised with that.

I've met two who are part of this type of family and what I've seen is that the step siblings get along as well as any non-step siblings I've seen.
Re: Men who are not against polygamy
Sharaabee, thanks for the response.
Do you follow Islam?
Out of curiosity, are you a guy?
I don't follow any religion.
Yes I am a guy.
World Population and 4 wives issue.
The world population is 50% women and 50% men...
which means that 1 man should marry 1 woman.....because 1 man is made for 1 woman...
if 1 man starts marrying 2 women.....that would leave 50% of men without any woman to marry...
if 1 man starts marrying 3 women.....that would leave 66% of men without any woman to marry...
if 1 man starts marrying 4 women.....that would leave 75% of men without any woman to marry...
in pakistan and India the population is such that there are more men and less women. this means that even if 1 man marries 1 woman, there will still be some men left without a woman to marry....
looking at the statistics and using common sense.....these statistics surely are against the idea of polygamy???
at the time of the Prophet (pbuh) it was different....because he got married to widows....whose husbands died in the war.....and after the war the population of women was MORE than men....hence it made sense for men to have more than one woman.....
but in todays society....when the population of men and women is equal....how does one explain the above problems.....i.e. if all men started marrying more than 1 woman....that would leave other men WITHOUT a wife.....which would cause MANY more problems in the society.....
for those who dont understand....let me make it abit easier for you.....
lets assume there are 4 slices of cake.......and 4 men to eat it. if one man eats 1 slice.....then everyone will have an equal share.....however, if one man says "No, I want 4 slices"......that would leave the other 3 men without a slice of cake to eat....
Re: World Population and 4 wives issue.
Survival of the fittest. The superior men who are the best marriage prospects will reproduce; the inferior men will not.
Re: World Population and 4 wives issue.
^So, are you saying that laws of nature that apply to animal species also apply to humans? (Yes I understand that humans are animals too, but you know what I'm saying)
Re: World Population and 4 wives issue.
LP, that is not a logical logic (if you may) ....
Men die before women for most of the part so women can marry twice, not to mention divorced women. Point is that one woman can marry more than one man (at different times of course).
Not every man can marry every woman as she could be his nani, dadi, mother, sister, daughter, phuppi (and so on and so forth).

Re: Men who are not against polygamy
ladies, men can marry 4, you dont have to be one of those wives, you can leave him if you want to, islam has given you that right.
End of discussion.
Re: Men who are not against polygamy
The whole concept has been misunderstood. Rasool-ul-Allah (saw) or say Islam had allowed 4 wives in first place to get the widows re-married. The concept of Today or say how the scholars understood and still understand this degrades this beautiful Religion to a Religion of Lust.

LOl, this a new one. Can you please prove that?
One sahabi came to Prophet and mentioned that he got married to a previously married woman. Prophet showed displeasure and asked him why, could you not find a virgin for yourself?
Re: World Population and 4 wives issue.
TLK.....im not talking about divorce or womens husband dieing when shes too old to even want to get married.....im talking about normal marriage age.
