Fathers tend to give priority/preferences to their daughters too, so its pretty even as far I have observed. As for the “majority of the cases” it can go wrong in any side really, you cant blame the mum’s for whatever the son’s end up doing or the dads for whatever the daughters end up doing for that matter. They themselves are responsible for the actions they end up making.
GENERALLY speaking more preference is given to sons from both parents and also grandparents. they get much happier upon having a son…generally speaking…for example…the example someone mentioned above about giving the leg pieces to the boys and shorba just for the girls…that would never happen the other way round.
I agree to the “they being more happier upon having a son” part but at the same time I also think it comes as a natural occurrence/consensus, not only in Pakistan but all around the globe. If you want me to state the reasons why? I’d be happy to explain them to you.
As for the leg pieces to the boys and shorba to the girls part, seriously LP? I haven’t ever seen a family guilty of such treatment personally but at the same time I must admit I won’t be surprised if 1 out of 50 or even 100 families do that, the same family who either is backward, uneducated or needs medical help. And even if they were none of that, I just hope they know what Allah SWT will do to them for their discrimination/treatment.
In Addition to above, Mothers should teach them to treat their Sisters nicely, boys must take good care of their sisters, should buy gifts for the sisters, should give them EIDEE ( however one can ask for loan and get it back :)) ) Boys should be taught to help their sisters in households even in cooking.. this is how one develop a good man…
aaghh!! i HATE men who hit women!! i saw this drama where man hit his wife badly, he actually injured her severely, ok i know that was all acting because its a drama and she wasn’t hurt in real, but the way they showed it all, she was bruised, bleeding, tied up, on the floor, i cudn’t even bear it in a drama that i don’t want to believe it happens in real life!!!
hitting beating is just cruel!! pure mean!!! my heart aches at the thought of it!!
its NOT the same all over the GLOBE…have you ever been to a western country? English people generally speaking love their kids equally…there is no such mentality of liking guys more…so i dont know how you can call it a global problem when its not!
just because you havent seen such families it doesnt mean others havent! Ive seen it MANY times and I live in a multicultural society…and its obvious to see which cultures/ethnicities favour boys.
No matter how you put it, it comes down to education (or lack of it) where rubber meets the road.
Now when i say education, that does not only mean education at school but over all taleem-o-tarbiyat of people. A person can hold double masters degree but can still be jahil and a person who is just 2 grade pass can be educated.
We at our home believe in eye-for-eye and my kick gets a kick in a butt from her in return right then, right there and life goes on
