men going to parlours *bleugh*

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

plus most ppl really dont wash their hands properly including using a nail brush. I dont think most ppl even own one.

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

^i cannot even eat food cooked by someone with long fingernails, it just disgusts me to no point.

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

since when did shorter nails require more time to be maintained then longer nails?! logically that dont make sense

i agree men's skin does take more of a beating and using UV skin care is totally different as it protects u from the harmful rays from sunlight exposure, how does manicuring help u? coz filing and buffing certainly doesnt!

im not taking the right away from u to take care of urself, take care of urself how u will, just coz i percieve that as slightly poofterish, obviously u dont so go for it whatever floats ur boat mate at the end of the day ur ideas of 'grooming' dont appeal to me as a girl coz i find it very unmanly... im merely expressing a point of my own preference

never did i once say that a man going out for a shave or to keep his facial hair under control is bad, thats what barber shops are for. dont mind men taking care of themselves as long as its manly.. again personal preference and my defininition of manly is obviously VERY different to yours..

and about the age thing, prevention is better then cure mate!!

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

ur more then welcome to ur razors... i wax anyway =)

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

ive grown up with the unfortunate idea of men going to salons and spa's so its not about not being used to the idea... its the fact that i DETEST it...

theres a difference

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

ur arguement is kinda baseless because spas and salons were always meant for ladies, do some market research and you'll never be able to deny the fact that the industry for beauty products stem from women!

in all honestly X2 im so surprised at the lengths you go to arguing the point for men to go 'spa-ing' it amuses me to say the least. i think i musta hit a nerve with u, i didnt mean to upset u if i have done i mean just coz i find it very off-putting and gay that a person with XY chromosomes enjoy visiting places that in my opinion are solely a womans sanctuary doesnt mean alot of you do... thats why i started this thread to gain an understanding of how many women like their men to be in touch with their feminine side

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

LOL! you have got to be the first guy ive heard/read saying ew! and i have a fair amount of male friends

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

to roll a spliff... or its usually shotters, who most likely also smoke grade

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

u dont need to feel bad for my spouse.. his jobs pretty stressful but i use my creativity and usually give him a massage from moi... its alot more enjoyable for both =)

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

they need to be clipped more often. logically that makes complete sense.

lets not jump from skin to nails shall we, the point was that because your skin takes a beating, moisturizers, facial scrubs and all are perfectly fine, men can have clogged pores just like women among other skin issues.

and manicuring is nothing more than someone else take care of your nails, just like I can have someone else come take care of my yard..

we are posting our own views and my views are counter to yours. The goal is not to convince you but to present a counterpoint to all the readers, whether or not you personally agree does not matter.

I actually dont have a personal preference for men, women on the other hand is a whole diff ballgame.

and prevention applies to both genders equally, so if guys want to take care of their skin, there is no big deal.

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

I was using the words used in post#31 for njgal in my post to draw a comparison. sorry you did not get it :)

quite untrue, even if you go back to great civilizations like turks, romans, greeks, ehyptians, they all had spa like services for men, actually if you venture out to Bath and read up a bit you will find out that they were indeed never solely meant for ladies.

the industry for beauty products surely is catering to women, no one is talking cosmetics liek lipsticks, concealers, foundation and all here. but simple things like fcial scrubs, moisturizers etc.
I would also argue that in the nail care industry, men and women probably buy ewual amount of nail clippers

Its not touching a nerve, i just saw something I did not agree with and wanted to present a counterpoint, grooming is not a feminine side, proper grooming is just the civilized thing to do.

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

Men can't win by the looks of it. They are damned if they pamper themselves, and are damned if they do not partake in some degree of grooming.

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

dont really need to be clipped more often, longer nails also need to be clipped as to maintain their normal length, along with that they need to be constantly cleaned, filed and painted.. so more maintenance

absolutly im not denying the fact that men cant have clogged pores, theres nothing wrong with facial washes, to cleanse their face. i dont dispute that... my point stresses facials at a salon, manicures and pedicures at a salon... have nothing against shaving/haircut/massages thats y i jumped from skin to nails coz skin wasnt my point unless ur talking about facials which in my opinion is OTT

yea id have an issue with my man wanting to get a manicure done, what more does he need then nail clippers and an occasional slap of cream?

absolutley, im just presenting to u my arguements as u are doing to me

i was refering to ur comment about women not using spas until their old... ur comment would lead upto the men not going to spas debate that were having, which seems as if im going round in a circle with u

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

X2 i never said i didnt like a groomed man... i just think its best to be in the middle, there are always 2 extremes and extremes in this case i do not like at all, a clean man is always better then a slimey dirt bag but then a clean man doesnt necessarily have to mean a guy whose telling ME about the greatest spas to go try out... turn off for sure!

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

yeh spas and salons were not always meant for women. and just because a man wants to go to a spa or salon doesnt mean he has feminine tendencies. im not trying to pick an argument with u but thats just so sexist.

way too much info.

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

why not, would someone not want to go to a good place for a massage? or is massage reserved for ladies too now? and if it not reserved for ladies, then should one go to a good one or not a good one?

for me recommending a good spa is nothing more than recommending a good mechanic, or doctor, or drycleaners. What is a good business where you get your money's worth.

an extreme today would be guys putting on lipstick and foundation and eyeliner I suppose and even that is more current cultural norm, because in different societies throughout history men actually did wear makeup, including merry old victorian england for example. and in Pakistan surma..which basically is like kajal is worn by some real tribal tough guys, but its culturally accepted there.

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

why are facials over the top? does a man's skin not need care?
uv protection, moisturizing, cleansing exfoliating etc.
and if it does, then what is the difference whether I do it at home or go to a professional.

same for nails, if i chop them every week at home and then go to a professional to get some luxurious treatment, what makes it wrong?

Most guys shave at home, even when barbershops were all over, but going for a good shave by a barber was something men enjoyed. Even today..everytime I am in London a good shave and truefitt and hill or geo trumper is a must.

I find it strange that ladies find guys getting their nails chopped by someone else strange, while brazilian wax for ladies by someone else is plainly acceptable....nasty

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

I think it's great when men take pride in their appearance and are into grooming, waxing etc mine is having caramel highlights this week :) Doesn't mean they're any less masculine, where I live it's pretty normal for men, no matter how 'hard' they think they are, to go on a sunbed every week or get waxed..

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

i actually meant that innocently believe it or not...

Re: men going to parlours bleugh

okay point taken, but i still stand by my opinion, still think metro's are nasty..

and even though i have been given an insight into ur lots opinions i still wouldnt be able to accept a man whose more into his beauty products then me... its just not.... right!

now go eat, play, wax, pedicure, manicure and be merry
