Men at work !

So, for times when the lady of the house doesnt feel very well and the man of the house has to take on that role of cooking food. I am trying to collect some easy recipes that wont require too much work, cluttering etc ..

Kindly share some easy recipes that men can handle without making a mess of the whole kitchen!
I would specially like to hear from men to get a male perspective on this.

Re: Men at work !

Looking forward to the responses. :khumar:

Re: Men at work !

My husband can only makes sandwiches in a sandwich maker provided frozen chicken chunks/patties and cheese slices are available in the freezer !!!:chai:

Re: Men at work !

This is what I made once:

Chicken Kofta Curry Recipe - Food.com - 190589

Not easy but I pulled it off.

Re: Men at work !

I can make masoor ki daal, simla murghi saalan, omelet, aaloo ki bhujiya, aaloo methi saalan, mix sabzi (gaajar, mater, aalo, etc) in my own style. I’m not good with biryani and roti. When I’m too tired and I’ve to cook, I opt for Aaloo anda.. Thats easy and yummy. I also try Meetha (Shher Khorma, Kheer) but of course with Packet one :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Men at work !

Guys, we need your recipes too , when a woman attempts a recipe its detailed .. I want to know a man’s attempt at describing a recipe :cb:

I am going to paste some of these recipes on the fridge door for husband to attempt cooking when I am not well :lifey:

Re: Men at work !

I’ll post some of easy one later.

PS: I learned these dishes by trial and error. I remember, my first attempt was making Tori ki sabzi and I pour 3-4 glasses water in half Kg tori :smack: later my Mom told me ‘tori ka apna pani kafi hota hai’

Re: Men at work !

Cooking is serious business, it needs detailed recipes.

Re: Men at work !

daals would be easiest for men…they just have cook them in water n masalas…

next comes chicken…frying chicken in oil…then add ginger/garlic paste…fry few more minutes…then add masalas ,yogurt n tomatoes…stir well…put on dum…

next should be vegees tell him the basic masala for all vegees…n pasta is also easy for them to make

only rice dishes n roti will be difficult imo

Re: Men at work !

How about writing the time down next to each of the steps

0 mins turn of the stove
5 mins -----------------
15 mins aaaaaaaaaa
30 mins handi tayar.

Re: Men at work !

I hardly ever cook. But when I do, it’s usually a masterpiece, according to the people who’ve enjoyed my cooking. I’m not into simple dishes like Daal, etc. Only make them when it’s necessary, like when my wife is sick, etc.

Re: Men at work !

Umer , recipe bi bata dein for all the wonderful dishes you have made :@:

Muqawwee , I found that really funny the tori incident ! :cb: I know a friend who was cooking bindi once, his mother or sister always used to cook for him.. sister got married and mother left for Pakistan , first time attempt at cooking and he filled the pot with bindi and water , obviously the dish turned into binda ka sorba :omg: it was really funny though

Re: Men at work !

I just google them. Like the Chicken Kofte I made, got the recipe from the net. But I can’t remember whether it was from the website I posted above or some other.

I also made Chicken Karahi once.

Re: Men at work !

I remember making gobhi gosht. I followed the recipe mom had given me, but I thought adrak would be a nice addition to it, so I chopped up a lot of adrak and chucked it in the handi.
End result the gobhi gosht tasted bitter, finishing it became a chore.

Re: Men at work !

Rice are particularly hard. You have to add just the right amount of water, or the chawal turn into porridge.

Re: Men at work !

Moral of the story: NEVER try to outsmart your own mum when it comes to cooking. She will always be waaaaaaaay better.

Re: Men at work !

thats true Saeed , rice are challenging and need practice …

My husband makes some really fantastic Biryani ( I have never eaten it but friends tell me they were totally crazy about the biryani he used to make in good old days )

My only concern is the clutter that men make in the kitchen when they start cooking :cb: the other day I asked husband to just stir the curry a bit .. after stiring when he knocked the stir spoon to clear the curry off it, the splashes went all over the stove and the splashback .. I had cleaned that just that morning ! its things like these that most women fear when men get to work in the kitchen !

Re: Men at work !

Hmm. The mess doesn’t bother us
