you know, the times when we were all little, lunches seemed to be a major excitement in our lives at lunch time ! any specific memories you have of those times? what lunch was the most popular in your household?

when we were at school, my mom used to make “choori”( you know garam roti with ghee and sugar yum yum) sometimes. this is the only thing she now don’t make. so when we ask her to make some it’s like we all are nostalgic about

I remember growing up with paratha rolls ! all sorts , keema wala, egg wala, simply salted, cream wala etc ..
The most exciting bit would always be the Kiri Square that I would occasionally find in my lunch box. I could share the paratha with the others but never the Kiri square

the thing i always used to do was eating everything with ketchup : pasta with ketchup, roti with ketchup

And then my sister bought the sandwich maker when I was in 5th or 6th grade and she made me "gid mid anda"(scrambled egg) sandwich
Once a week, I was given rs.2 to buy samosa at school :D

Aada Paratha and Shami Kabab sandwich with white bread. I used to eat that lunch even before lunch break. during the class "bastey" (school bag) main hath daal daal ker ...niwala toor toor ker....mun desk k pechey chupa ker lunch khatam :)

Shami kabab rolls...oh lorddddd...we ate so many shami kababs!
The four of us would have lunch at the same time usually so one person would have the lunch bag, we'd get all our rolls from them and eat at our tables.
We always envied people who ate more "American lunches" and they envied us and often traded sandwiches with us.

I have really tortured memories attached to my lunch box.
Better not discuss it... i still remember the face of my bullies like i was bullied a min ago. I cant stand it... someone stop thissss nowwwwwwwwwwww

Shami kabab sandwiches made with white bread and in a sandwich maker.I hated both shami kababs and sandwich makers at that time.Now,I cannot get enough of shami kababs.Love them!
I was in 5th grade when my youngest sister was born and nani ammi took over making school lunches for us.Her theory was that butter and jam just had to be a part of the lunch.I hated those 'jam toast' lunches.I still haven't been able to overcome my dislike for jamssssss!!!
What Reha said is so true for me too. Lol. I wanted to eat my friends' lunch that was more American. They loved mine.

shami kebabs and chicken sandwiches.
i didnt like to eat the home made lunch and used to give that to my friends often and get other yum stuff from the school canteen.

Lunch…my lunch was treated like a snack. We got fruit, chips, and juice, and only occasionally a sandwich. We used to get a hot meal as soon as we got home though.

Oh my goodness! I thought I was the only one on the face of this planet who had the misfortune of experiencing butter & jam/ jelly sandwiches!!!
I have no idea where this came from or why it’s a thing! No peanut butter, no fluff… just straight butter and jam. So… Gross!! I got made fun of for it by my friends in elementary school 
Grilled chicken subs, steak subs, shami kabab sandwiches, pasta, pizza. My mom used to make everything fresh early in the morning…and we’d have a Caprisun juice packet lol and one fruit roll-up a week. Awesome times.

I stopped reading after the first few replies. All you niccas got meat sandwiches, all my mum packed for my lunch was BUTTER sandwiches, a crisp packet and a carton of juice in primary school.
