actually middleman did not give whole money to sharif brothers , what afaq ahmad got was bacha khucha choora , but he was bitterly opposed to altaf ahmad . military intelligence ,president ghulam ishaq khan were key operators behind the screen . this happens when military is given precedence over parliament.

Afaq says he, Altaf got money from Younus | Pakistan | DAWN.COM
ISLAMABAD: Mohajir Qaumi Movement’s chairman Afaq Ahmed admitted on Monday that he had received Rs5 million from Younus Habib in 1993, long after he along with several other leaders had parted ways with the party led by Altaf Hussain.
**He claimed that Mr Hussain had also received Rs5 million from Mr Habib in his presence and that former army chief Gen Mirza Aslam Beg was present on the occasion.
Addressing a press conference, Mr Ahmed said he was presenting facts before the media so that it could highlight them without any fear.
He accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement of being involved in extortion and issuing threats to all segments of society in Karachi. “I have told this to the media in Karachi too but they do not have the courage to carry such things,” he said.
**Mr Afaq said Karachi was a part of the country but policymakers generally thought that negotiating with Mr Hussain was the only way to move ahead because of his influence in the city. He said it was imperative to clear the city of weapons for peace and tranquillity. “We will try to bring religious, nationalists and political groups to one platform for peace in Karachi.”
In reply to a question, Mr Ahmed said that if new provinces were made on an ethnic grounds then it would be a never-ending process that might lead to disintegration of the country.
Re: Mehran gate scandal
Strange kind of reply by Aslam Baig, he has laid blame of the scandal on ISI chief exclusively.
Asghar Khan Petition: Baig lays blame on former ISI chief | DAWN.COM
ISLAMABAD: Former chief of Pakistan Army, Gen. (retd) Mirza Aslam Baig has denied any involvement in or knowledge of dishing out money to politicians in the 90s, laying the blame of the illegal distribution on Lt-Gen. (retd) Asad Durrani, who was the intelligence chief at the time.
On Wednesday, the former military head submitted his statement in the Supreme Court during a hearing of a petition filed by Air Martial (retd) Asghar Khan, a former chief of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).
Khan had filed a petition in the Supreme Court in 1996, accusing the ISI of illegally financing several politicians during the 1990 elections to create the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) and prevent Benazir Bhutto’s PPP from winning. The case, after a few hearings, had been postponed indefinitely, but was recently picked up again after more than a decade. A bench of the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, is hearing the case.
Khan’s petition was based on the affidavit of former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Asad Durrani. In the affidavit, the former ISI chief had alleged that Rs.140 million had been distributed among politicians on the directives of then Army chief Aslam Baig.
In the statement submitted Wednesday, Baig has maintained the stance that the alleged funds were transferred into the ISI’s accounts, and not the Army’s accounts. Baig has claimed that he neither had any knowledge of orders to distribute the funds by then president of Pakistan Ghulam Ishaq, nor was he aware of any illicit activity concerning the funds.
The former military chief has further claimed that the ISI at the time was not operating under the command of the Army chief.
The controversial case also involves Habib Bank Limited and the now defunct Mehran Bank Limited, through which the funds were allegedly transferred to several politicians and political parties, including former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, and the Jamaat-e-Islami, among others.
During the last hearing of the case on April 25, the three-member SC bench was of the opinion that a report submitted by the interior ministry was based on the recollections of Interior Minister Rehman Malik and therefore was not acceptable.
The report had quoted Malik as saying that he had been delegated the responsibility to investigate the issue by Naseerullah Babar but that reports of those investigations were no longer available.
Previously, the Supreme Court was informed that inquiry reports by two commissions believed to be insightful and revealing about the scams were still missing.

no general in Pakistan history has ever been convicted and I doubt if we will ever see that

I agree. Present CJ even can not give decision against mqm or pml(N) what to talk about military general. He is after PPP people that's it. He has no courage to touch any one else except PPP.
He was on two weeks honeymoon vacation in Karachi spending millions on hearing of mqm's target killings. And his judgement was "khoda paharh nikla chooha". However he enjoyed his stay in Karachi on the expense of tax money. Poor ZM was remain in waiting to be called by CJ, with tons of proofs with him. This is how this CJ works.
