Re: Mehram Precautions
See through clothing , short blouse with a saree , low cut dress from front showing cleavage or low cut from back is common and is considered harmless around home and outside the homes too in certain Muslim circles. I have seen this being practiced by some families who make a lot of effort to stay religious.
I am not saying that this kind of dress will tempt some brother , father , servant or a na-meharam to be a pervert. But modest dress should be norm in a household all the time and that goes for both the genders , the men should not be roaming around their own house topless or in just a underwear while other female family members are present.
No amount of purda can stop perversion , but Isalm has certain rules of conduct to follow and dressing modestly is one of them and for a reason.
Fear of perversion should not stop us from being normal human being and lack of this fear should not drive us to show off our bodies and private parts. If wearing a dress which covers us properly was not a pre-condition to curb perversion in non perverts then we all would still be roaming around naked. No ?
What is the extent of covering yourself around others ? Islam has given clear framework for that . It is up to us to follow through or come up with some excuse.
