Re: Mehr
You know what gets me about men these days is they want it all...total package.
She must be educated, sughaR, good looking, nice, sweet, innocent, a virgin, a good cook, must work and support herself, must live with inlaws, must not ask for anything, must do housework so we can fire the maid, give birth, be a good mother to the kids, be a good DIL, bring jahaiz, forget her own parents kyun ke ab to vo parai hogayi hai, etc etc etc. And all the while she has to maintain her figure so her husband doesn't cheat on her with someone much less attractive. The bar just keeps getting higher and higher and we need to be able to do it ALL.
But when it comes to discussions like these, men take advantage of women working so hard. In some ways, its great women are doing so well but in some ways...its made men lazy and less manly.
SOME (not all) guys these days are just a tutu short of being arm candy.
Hmmmm Reha correction she must give birth to a boy only !
Re: Mehr
In the case where both families agreed to not giving/accepting jehaiz does it appear greedy to ask for a mehr?
Re: Mehr
No Ashoo. Mehr is islamic obligation. Jahez is nothing of the sort
Re: Mehr
whatever the man can AFFORD*...it shouldn't be a burden on him. remember, it's NOT an insurance against any divorce like some Desi parents might erroneously believe. *
Re: Mehr
Some ppl believe more than a few hundred pounds is excessive for mehr.. yet would happily spend that amount on a new laptop/games console/mobile phone..

yeah...the amount of Mehr should be determined according to the man's economic condition.
Re: Mehr
