Mehndi day grooming??

PSB, did you post your wedding pictures here? I missed them if you did.. :(

My advice is not to wear any major makeup...the simpler u look, the more u glow on the wedding..its a tried and tested method!

4 the photos, i wore very light foundation, wore my green lenses (im quite fair so looked quite real) and just curled my lashes (didnt even wear mascara) and then wore plain clear lipgloss...had my hair in a normal bun with a dupatta over it and it looked great in pics...

on the wedding day I really did glow...

I think stick to the traditions...otherwise wts da difference on ur wedding day and the mehndi...and people will appreciate your real beauty on the mehndi....I had a lot of people complimenting to my family that I looked so pretty without the makeup even LOL....little did they knw there was 'some' foundation ;)

Good luck

Re: mehndi day grooming??

unless ur face is going to be coveredt he entire time, a bare minimum amount of makeup should be used.. u know base, kajal, even vaseline/plain lipgloss..depending on the function...

Re: mehndi day grooming??

My cousin who got married recently went for her usual everyday make up, which is very light anyway. So a bit of concealer, eyeline, mascara and a clear gloss

Re: mehndi day grooming??

Get ONLY your foundation/powder professionally applied. Meaning make sure your skintone looks even so you look nice in pictures. Dont go all the way with eyeshadow and whatnot.

As one of the posters said already, mehndis are usually the more fun events so the last thing you want to worry about is how you look.

agreed:)

okay i know i already replied but i'v come back!
i would SOOO recommend getting it done from outside!

you only got three days to look this hot

so do something new all three days...different looks..you ll be so much happier when you look back at the pictures and think dang! i looked hot..instead of, just simple like you look everyday....only 3 days...i wish it was like 10 day or someting :(

yourpresident: yeah i did put up my mehndi pics for a while...in the bridal thread...i dont know if they are still up..i can pm u my pics if you want

I respectfully disagree. My mehndi was a very fun event and I cared a lot about the way I looked and loved it.

The tradition is not to have makeup on, it is to look simple so that on the day of the wedding you look like a bride. Like I did, and so did SGC, you have completely different looks on both days. Mine, specifically was done so I looked pretty but very simple on the mehndi and well glamorous on the wedding. I think you should worry about how u look, u dont wanna look like u just jumped out of bed and onto the mehndi stage specially when there will be so many people there. in the end its ur choice what u wanna do but i think everyone will care about the way they look, hence this thread.

Pyari I wanna see u're pics!

Re: mehndi day grooming??

I loved pyari's mehndi pics, esp her hair looked awesome

Re: mehndi day grooming??

white roses be a smart girl and wear makeup on your mehndi event. Chances are you are wearing green or yellow colors, which look awful without makeup. Listen girls who go without any make up always look bland/tired/green. Wear some light make up, natural hues. Why ruin your picutres? All the girls that go without makeup in on their mehendi day just don't have good freinds that are honest with them. If I had a friend who wore no makeup I would personally tie her down and make her wear some. Unless she naturally was born with flawless skin, rosey cheeks, lush lashes, and pink lips.

Re: mehndi day grooming??

We had a huge wedding and the mehendi was the first day most of my in laws flying in from everywhere would see me so I had to look good for that first impression.

I went to an arabic salon and got my makeup/hair done but it was nothing heavy. They used foundation, concealer, eyeshadow, mascara(no fake lashes), lipstick and that's about it.

In the end it depends on you and what you feel comfortable with.

Re: mehndi day grooming??

ohh thank u sooo much for all the nice advices :), they all r really helpful, ok i have makeup a list of the cosmetics i need on mehndi day :D.

my dress is in Yellow & turquoise color with alittle emerald green n purple in it.

here I have one more question …(Sorry to ask so many questions ) , ok i have decided to go to a parlour for my mehndi makeup n hair do, & my both barat n walima makeup r from allenora, so tell me should i also go for my mehndi makeup to allenora??? or another option is a parlour ameera’s where all my cousins go for simple treatments etc, & its near our house n mehndi venue so no headache of time, its not a very famous parlour but is based in 1 villa, & since they got to know i’m getting marry soon all the time they keep inviting me to come & see their real brides so that i can ave an idea n then have my makeup from them aswell.

but i’m not going to them for my barat n walima but it can be a good option to go to them for my mehndi day, i’m thinking to take all my own cosmetics with me & ask them just to apply it exactly the same way as i like. i’m pretty sure they’ll listen me while doing makeup but the question is "is allanora’s mehndi makeup is better as compare to other parlours? should i go only to allenora? or it can be any other parlour?

is there any bride here at GS who had their makeup done by allnora?if yes, how was it?

i went to allenora & i saw all the staff rushing here n there n not listening to anyone, so my fear is wat if they wont make my hair or do my makeup exactly the same way as i want them to do??

so really confused in all this stuff :(, so plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help me once again deciding the best parlour for makeup in lahore.

HUGS

Hippo, I beg to disagree here..all the girls on GS give genuine advice! And majority of them say that a "little" amount of makeup looks nice for the mehndi day! A little concealer and foundation for coverage and kajal and flesh colored gloss looks fantastic. The colors for mayun/mehndi suit desi girls even if they appear with a freshly scrubbed face..

Re: mehndi day grooming??

ohh i saw ur mehndi pics sumorani n u were looking amazingly gorgeous on ur mehndi, where r ur pics pyari si bachi? would love to see them

ohh & i forgot to tell to sara that NO i’m not going to cover my face atall :D, & its the day “my mehndi day” when i’m going to see my sweet hubby after 1 & a half year :(. he will arrive pakistan just before 2 days of our wedding & everyone has planned to have my ubton/mayun before his arrival so that we cant meet or see eachother before our wedding day :(…ZALIM SAMAJ :naraz:

So have to look at my Best!!!

Re: mehndi day grooming??

all my friends went for a very "fresh" look... nothing heavy but some powder and mascara and light gloss... They looked beautiful

i have to agree with this-- but just amend it to say most girls, not all girls, without even a stitch of makeup tend to look honestly, not that great. yes, you'll look simple without any makeup on, but its still a big party and you still have to sit on stage and get pictures taken unless you do the ghoonghat thing, and frankly, i didn't want crap pictures of me. i don't want to look back and realise i looked ill on my mehendi day. i think a bit of makeup is necessary unless you have natural beauty and a flawless complexion.

also, your wedding day is a big deal anyway and the glow you get on that day, outside of what makeup, clothing and jewellery you have on- its going to make you stand out. theres no way that girls are going to look better on mehendi than they do on shaadi just because they wear makeup- your whole demeanor is different, outside of the dressiness and formality of your clothing, jewellery, hair and makeup.

sumo, i had sleeveless for my mehendi too!

Re: mehndi day grooming??

A sleeveless dress especially in a shlawar kameez or its variants speels instant glam! So like Sumorani did on her mehndi, one decides to have a less made up look the sleevless will add the glamour quotient. Ditto SGC!

Re: mehndi day grooming??

I really want to see Sumorani's wedding pics.

Re: mehndi day grooming??

It's a personal choice of course and insha'Allah i'm gonna wear makeup on my mehndi. The trick is to stay away from dark colors. But even if u go with darker colors...who cares!? It's YOUR mehndi and u have every right to look ur best!!

You have the rest of ur life to look "simple" and u only have a mehendi day once (hopefully!) and it'll last forever in ur pix. And just cuz u look good on ur mehndi doesn't take away the "shine" from ur face on the wedding day. They're completely different looks.
