Ghaznavi was a Muslim, and homo-sexuality is not acceptable in Islam. Despite that he is a hero for Muslims. Would he have been a hero even if he was an idol-worshipper (also not allowed in Islam) ? Something obviously wrong here.

India is a secular (and not a Muslim) country, so laws cannot be made keeping Islam (or Hinduism, Christianity etc.) in mind.

Ayaz was very obedient servant and loyal. he himself was religious and kept reminded himself of his own limit despite Mehmood openly praising him in the court. This made others jealous of Ayaz.

There are scores of documents on Mehmood's sex life with the boy. If you refer to any historical accounts, that was the accepted norm of the pashtun society (esp high society). Mehmood was not Gay, but bisexual. Infact many rulers of afghanistan and current day NWFP of pakistan were bisexual. That's the truth and its left to you to accept or reject it.
