Should we use, so they can have full rest , avoid they not annoy or interrupt us ?
that will be having some side affects , in case those are sereous , then is there any alternate for that ?
or we should simply substantiate patiance with their intermetant sleepings and abundant cranks in our sleeping timings.

we went thru 2 months of sleeples nites since our baby was teething and hubs wakes up at 5 in morning…we survived n he was on slpin an hour a time…u can go n slp in the spare room if baby irritates u tht much 
wat an insane question my advice is couples who think this way shud kindly refrain from the baby making proccess …

No please don't give the kid's anything, try some bedtime routines, storybook reading, or a quick run around to tire them out.
Or you can get johnson babytime baths that can help
My midwife told me hat Calpol (baby paracetomal) did used to have a sleeping mediciine in it but due to parents that were misusing it and giving it just whenever so their kid's would sleep.
So they took that out and now its just normal calpol with pain easing paracetomal.
My son used to follow asleep withhis bottle in his mouth but i always took it out as they get into a habit of keeping it in their mouth which isn't safe.

Any medication that causes sleep can be very dangerous for an infant. As a nurse in Peds ICU, my sister sees an alarming number of infants who were given just a little too much and they stop breathing.

people try to avoid unnecessary use of medicines on babies and adults alike...stay away! it sure gonna affect baby adversely in the long run...those reasons are ridiculous

mr abusaad, are you insane? you dont have right to be name as "Abu" of Saad!
with sleepiness and too cosiness even infants can get to so deep sleep that they can forget to breath and this can cause death!
so take the sleep medicine yourself and sleep well. but dont give it to baby.

One of my friend suggested me this, when I told one night story , when we could not sleep all the night due to our 11 months baby.
he told you can give sleeping medicine, I did not buy some medicine right away, but consulted a pharmacist, he told no, it is not recomendable, so I stoped and did not buy this type of medicine.
I thought I should also bring this to GS forums so to get more views regarding the matter, which i got ,

Maybe we can help you with some other suggesstions. Tell us what the problem is? Why won't the baby sleep? how old is the baby?
Do you work? Is that why you do not get enough sleep?
There are so many experienced mums here. Maybe if you let us know the problem then we sure would try to help.

AbuSaad, I'm very glad to see that you've been reading the replies here. Some were tough on you for sure but you need to realize the seriousness of your question. Infants have very small stomachs and need to eat every 2 to 6 hours and its a very normal thing for them to wake and cry to be fed. It isnt a normal or typical thing for an infant to sleep through the night and if they do, a good doc will tell you to wake them and feed them. Parents getting a full night of sleep is a thing of the past during their children's infancy.
Medications, especially those affecting sleep or brain function can be extremely dangerous as they have such a different and more extreme impact on infants than they do on adults.
Suhaina, the medication you mentioned is probably Fenergan. This is the drug that brings too many patients to my sister in Pediatric ICU. Its an antihistamine (for allergies) and it produces profound sleep in addition to easing allergy symptoms. She's dealt with far too many infants with brain death because of over usage of this drug.

My sister in Law is also using such medicines. But i never recommend, even, once i had a word of anger with her.
Thanks God, My wife is against such medicine. She is working Woman, but loves her kid and enjoy with her.
