my hubby graduated last year and his 2nd housejob will also be over in a few days. He did his 1st one in ortho and 2nd one in anesthesia.

they charge about 200+ for everything. How's the environment there? i heard it was nasty. Mikhael brings up a good point..its hard to open up your own practice if you did ur schooling in the caribbean (from what i've heard).

Anyone in US medical schools? I'm applying for next year, carribean is my fall-back so far. EMM, which state are you from..?, if you don't mind me asking..

its not hard to get in, as long as ur mcat score is a 30+, a good GPA isnt that hard to maintain..but the mcat is a ba*tard horrible HORRIBLE exam which u have to do good on (unfortuanetly)

Also, why is anesthisology so interesting? One small miscalculation and you kill someone. In my hometown in Illinois, we get a new one every few years because they mess up and lose their privledges!!

I dont believe when people say such things. My relative went to school in Pakistan and she now has her own practise in the states. She is doing well for herself, mash’Allah.

all you med students, theres a forum (im not sure if im allowed to post website here in this forum…dont want to get banned:nono: dot=.) I found it very benficial…most members are very friendly and are willing to help you out at every step. Good Luck to you all and please remember me in your prayers as well.

I would not see a doctor who went to the carribeans to get his medical degree. Why? Same reason why I wouldnt buy a Kia leaking brake fluid for the price of a brand new BMW.
It is no secret that people go to schools in the carribean for short cuts to get to med practice. I would rather see a doctor who went through the regular route, at a good school. It is my money, and more importantly, it is my family's health.
Also included in the list of docs I'd never wish to see practicing are the ones who went to med school because their parents wanted them to be docs. These arent easy to tell, but if its someone from a carribean school, desi or not, I'm staying clear.

some people go to there to save time. would u not go to a doctor who went to those 6 yr med programs, or medstart? its the same thing. getting a lower mcat score or a lower gpa doesn't mean you wont make a good doctor. Some people are just better with hands-on
