what are the advantages of getting into med school in Pak? i mean like im seeing so many people goin to Pak for medical…i don’t see any andvantage..it costs the same..my friend( who’s going to abttabad) is paying $7000, she got in by self financing. and the other one is paying $10,000 (she going to karachi).. Medical school is expensive, i understand that…but wouldn’t they have to get into med school when they get back here?
Re: med school in Pak
To answer your question 'NO' they don't have to get into med school when they come back to US ... One has to pass the USMLE Steps and then apply for residency program.
Re: med school in Pak
I think education wise it would be harder to adjust considering US education system is different and pakistani schools would be behind in curriculum too?
Re: med school in Pak
IF u go to a medsckool in pak, u get done much more quickly than here, and when u get back here; all u have to do is take few exams.
Re: med school in Pak
U think wrong Blitz.... Recognized Med schools in Pak are excellent ... Initially they had written examinations UNLIKE usa but now all med schools have a similar pattern of examination as USA in some cases even better than USA ... Like Aga Khan University and NOW DOW medical, King Edward, SMC and many others follow the same examination patterns as AKU ... if you are serious and really want to know more details send me an offliner, I will direct you ...
Re: med school in Pak
I might be needing some help then, cuz I'm studyin in the U.S. right now, but might go to a med school in paki, like its an option...One of the girls frm King Edward was telling me I won't have to take the entrance exam?? Is that true, and If it is, then what do the colleges look at? :)
Re: med school in Pak
^ waqi king Edward is for gals only, U dont need an enterance exam for any uni's in PAk. They just transfer ur credits. But i dont know how its gonna work out, coz they are gonna take ur points off for not taking Urdu and other pak Subjects. Its gonna be really hard but good luck

Re: med school in Pak
^ oppsi, got confusesd i wasn't talkin about fatima Jinah, There is another college starts with K for gals. Cant think of it rite now
Re: med school in Pak
kinnade? its not a med school though.
Re: med school in Pak
^^ KE is not for girls only, Kinnard is non med college.
for med schools in Pakistan has central admin system for all punjab colleges, they dont have entrance test as they rely on marks /grades of F.Sc. or A levels. in pre medical subjects.
some private med schools has the entrance exams ie, AKU etc.
there are new lot of private college sprung out recently and they charge more.
state colleges charge nominal except self finance guys/girls who doesnt meet the required grades.
why people going to Pak for med schools, cause they have recognised med schools from WHO and hence they can practice anywhere with some local exams.USMLE, PLAB etc
Re: med school in Pak
Shahkills: the medical schools in Pakistan require the entrance test since 2000 and it applies not only to the private schools but to any school out there.
Also, when I was there in 2000 the entrance exam counts 60% and the grades of FSC or A-level counts for only 40% or vice versa that I am not sure of but thats how they actually do the med school admissions in Pakistan, particularly, in Punjab. I know a few grls who got 900+ in FSC but couldn't get in med school because they didnt do well in the entry test. Its all about luck and hard work. :-)
Re: med school in Pak
Shak Kills: and what about the tranfer credits? or would i have to repeat?
thanks. ![]()
Re: med school in Pak
Most of the Medical Schools in Pakistan does not transfer Credits. Aga Khan Uni, DMC, SMC, K.E, FJ for sure dont accept transfer of credit hours. I know Baqai does.
BUT, please understand transfer of hours is ONLY accepted from one medical school to the other medical school. So, if you are PRE- MED, there is absolutely no transfer of hours.

umm thanks Basit for the info. really appriciated.
does anyone know of any accredited dental schools in Pakistan?
Re: med school in Pak
De Mont College for Medicine is in Lahore. Its a govt. college and the other one is in Multan. You have to take the same MCAT for dental colleges too.
Lahore Medical and Dental College is the best private medical college in Punjab. Its good too.
Re: med school in Pak
Fatima Memorial Hospital College, Lahore is also conducting dentalclasses but I'm not too sure about it.
