Meaning of this verse

Mohammad Bhi tira, Jibril bhi, Quran bhi Teera

Magar Ye harf-e-ShireeN turjumaan teera hai Ya meera

Isi kokab ki tabaani sey hai teera jahaaN roshan
Zawaal aadam-e-khaki ZiyaaN teera hai ya meera

It is the bolded verse that i don’t understand.
What does Iqbal mean by Harf-e-shireen here?http://www.paklinks.com/gs/imagehosting/2478946e5119834608.bmp

Re: Meaning of this verse

aha...this is AQ's forte....Iqbal that is. Its beyond me but just reading the words is a beauty in itself.

Re: Meaning of this verse

I guess.. it refers k Quran n Mohammad n Jibril to Allah ne bhejay na.. magar jo Quran ke tarjumay huay itni zabanonmain jinhon ne isay sehel kernay main buhat ehemkirdaar ada keay.. poet is asking Allah k Allah ki zaat in tafseer ko kis ke account main likhay gi?? Allah ke ya un logon k jinhon ne tarjuma kia..

thats what i guess.. agau to AQ batayen ge.. :)

Regards,

Re: Meaning of this verse

Certainly AQ is better placed to explain this. But as I see it, it looks like Iqbal, by saying that Mohammad, Jbril and Quran, is yours, meant to say that everything in the universe belongs to you, but the question is, whom this fantastic package actually belongs to? One who is a true believer or the one who is only a casual representative of Islam?

Re: Meaning of this verse

^^ I only so commented cos AQ is a big fan of Iqbal :)

Re: Meaning of this verse

Iqbal ki Iqbal He Jaanay Hum To Bas Andazay Laga Saktay Hain !

Re: Meaning of this verse

I rest my case... redidentity and Amal have explained it much better :)

Re: Meaning of this verse

Re: Meaning of this verse

Mohammad Bhi tira, Jibril bhi, Quran bhi Teera

Allah, Mohammad is yours
So is Jibral, so is Quran
All yours

But the interpreter
Of sweet words,
Is mine or yours?

Re: Meaning of this verse

Oh please.... For God sake...!
do not butcher Iqbal's poetry when you have no idea what it means.

Mohammad (pbuh) tera hai
Jibril tera hai
Quran bhi tera hai

Magar ye meethay
Harfon ka turjurmaan
Mera hai ya tera hai

Note: Turjumaan=Interpreter, Translator

Re: Meaning of this verse

^
first of all.. Iqbal's verse made more logical sense and more poetical ... your is only bunch of words....

secondly, Tarjumaan does not mean Tarjumaa... Please. Thank you!

Re: Meaning of this verse

Third shair is so beautiful, but is Iqbal really questioning the truth behind Inkaar-e-iblees?

That does not reflect a whole lot of submission as a true muslim

**Mohammad (pbuh) tera hai
Jibril tera hai
tay Quran vi tera hai

par jehra mithiaan harfaan
da matlab dassay,
o mera hai ya tera hai?

Re: Meaning of this verse

Omar Faraz or rkopra whoever you are... It is said ignorance is a bliss but it remains a blessing until you realize it.

You seem so keen to translate anything that is posted here even if it is not understood... It relays the wrong understanding of the piece of the poetry and can be a total injustice with the contents...

And if you think that Tarjumaan really means Translator, and are not willing to accept that you had no idea what it is, then be my guest and translate the following for me and also explain what Iqbal is saying in following simple verses:

Urooj-e-Aadam-e-Khaaki saY Anjum sehmaY jaataY haiN
kaY kaheeN yeh tooTa huaa taaraa mah-e-Kaamil na bun jaaye

and

Andaaz-e-bayaaN garchaY bahut shokh naheeN hai
Shaayad kaY utar jaaye teraY dil maiN meri baat

Yaa GuNbad-e-aflaak maiN takbeer-e-musalsal
Yaa Khak ke aaghosh maiN tasbeeh-O-munaajaat

Woh mazhab-e-Mardaan-e-Khud aagah-O-Khudaa mast
Yeh Mazhab-e-Mullah-O-Jamaadaat-O-Nabaataat

Thanks!
