Re: Meaning of the name Anya?
yeh but a lot of that has to do with people spreading incorrect information or not looking into things properly. Like I had a friend who told me that Sophia was an arabic name that meant pure. I had to argue it with her for hours because I knew it wasn’t an arabic word. If you just look it up on google then it does show up that way. But if you have an understanding of arabic then there is no such word as sophia, there is a saffiya which as an arabic word. Sophia is a greek name. So you find a lot of people don’t really do enough research into names and their proper origins. Also pronunciation/different languages can affect your interpretation of names too. In urdu a lot of arabic names are pronounced incorrectly and then they almost become different names so that its hard to trace them back.
