Well, I believe that he was taken to 5-star hotel for security reason … though I believe that government could have kept him anywhere.
As for many local and foreign innocents are in prison without any legal help, that is wrong and it is duty of government to do something about that. Unfortunately this is happening since last 61 years and all governments till now are guilty of doing very little. As for President Musharraf bringing reforms, first of all he was not in power since 11 years but 8 years (since Oct 1999). Second thing is that, he had absolute power for first 3 years, and during that time lot of reforms were introduced, that includes police reform and power to local government (both effects people directly and immensely). Before Police reform brought by Musharraf, Pakistan had police laws that was given by British and that was to rule the people and not to serve the people. Nevertheless, as country, there is a lot that is needed to get done in Pakistan and 3 years or even 8 years is very little (especially, when governments in past only messed up the country).
Anyhow, after 2002, Pakistan had parliament with politicians in government and politicians in opposition, and it was duty of Parliament to bring reforms for the betterment of the masses. Unfortunately, opposition were just beating the desk during that time for selfish political reasons, and not bringing issues for betterment of people what they should have been doing. Government also did not do as much as they could have done.
As for spy thing, that is going on since long time and I do not think that it was just personal publicity stunt. It may have been Pakistan image building exercise in front of world, but to consider that as personal image building stunt by anyone, that is ridiculous.
And for security reasons Govt. was boasting him for taking him to a known 5-star hotel.. :k:

infact, polioce have become more brutal, without control, and under Musharaf & Co used police to brutalize pakistani people.. Musharaf was absolute ruler as his wrong action resulting in PML-Q defeat.. most of the time Musharaf was selling Pakistani citizens to USA for torture without any proof..
