Maxi Dress Help :-)

I love Maxi dresses and would love to wear one problem am short 5foot :frowning: And every dress I try on drags on the floor even if it says petite..

I havent seen any short girls wear maxis so maybe they dont look good after all.. Am confused..

To wear or not to wear?

Your views ladies

Thank you..

Re: Maxi Dress Help :-)

I have the same problem!

Try wearing some high wedged heels, or maybe shortening the length cos I've asked my mum to do the same to my maxi dresses.

Re: Maxi Dress Help :-)

Taniya ive been told that generally maxi dresses on short people make u look shorter do u find thats the case with u? Every maxi dress ive seen is gorgeous but ohhh sooooooooooo long :( and ive thought about shortening them but then I lose the design at the bottom of the dress x

Re: Maxi Dress Help :-)

If you wear high heels with a long dress it makes you look slimmer and taller.

I have had soo many issues finding the right maxi that fits well in all the areas as well. So lame...

Try Next, Dorothy perkins cos they had some shorter maxi dresses. Just have to look around hun and maybe try the dress on with wedged heels to see how it looks.

Re: Maxi Dress Help :-)

wear them with wedges. it adds some height.

maxi dresses look great on anyone..nicole richie is short, but she looks fab in them.

maybe wear a belt with it...i could raise the hem up a bit. also wear cropped jackets with them....it would make u seem longer.

Re: Maxi Dress Help :-)

^ Nicole is also veryyy slim but I like the high heel idea will defo try that :-) and see how I look & feel x

Afshi, I'm looking for nice maxi dresses in Toronto. I see tons online - but I want to try it on first - where can I get nice ones - help!

Re: Maxi Dress Help :-)

sherysh

  • Forever 21 (check out Vaughan Mills and Fairview)
  • Fairweather
  • Guess
  • Walmart (surprise surprise)
  • Guess (I got one on sale there.woo hoo)

Is there any place in Eaton Centre - it's really close to work and I can go during my lunch hour. I hate shopping on my own time.

If not, then I'll definitely try some of those stores. Thank you!

Re: Maxi Dress Help :-)

Eaton Centre used to have Fairweather, I think they closed down

and there is Guess by Marciano at Eatons!

Re: Maxi Dress Help :-)

no idea..i dont go down to EC.

Isnt Forever 21 right next to the EC? Also, I'm assuming Fairweather is in EC too, right?

There's a Fairweather in First Canadian Place - I'll check that out. I have to google Forever 21.

Re: Maxi Dress Help :-)

wear them with high wedges!

Re: Maxi Dress Help :-)

You dont need to wear any high heels... My cousins jus under 5ft and looks absoloutly beautiful in a maxi dress. She wore gladiators in them too. And looked stunning mashallah. you CAN find them. They are MEANT to be long. Im 5ft5- 5ft6 and mine touches the ground but i love it. Nice and floatyyyy!!

Re: Maxi Dress Help :-)

^ really sounds good.. I guess i should defo give a maxi dress a try alot of people said it will make me look shorter and fat then a few have said it should be fine now im on a mission to find one that looks good on me :) thank you everyone for your help xxx

I thought maxi dresses wouldn’t work on me either since I’m 5’2. And then I ran across this at New York and Company:

http://www.nyandcompany.com/nyco/browse/productDetailWithPicker.jsp?productId=prod2120045&categoryId=cat2240028

I got it in an extra small along with a matching red cardigan to “hijabify” the outfit…and it looks really good.

It does drag a bit at the bottom, but that’s nothing that some wedge sandals and a bit of quick hemming won’t fix.

You really just have to try them on and take a critical look at yourself…you really never know what’s gonna look good until you see it on yourself.
