first time moms, how does it feel when an infant or a baby is being cared for, by you?
how is paternal instinct different than maternal?
share your thoughts on this, if you like.
best,

Re: Maternal Instinct: how does it feel?
The emotions and the happiness can't be described in words.
I was sooo sooo happy the day my first child was born. For a long
time I couldn't believe that she was actually mine.
Re: Maternal Instinct: how does it feel?
^^Errr! I had the same feelings (just change she to he)....
Re: Maternal Instinct: how does it feel?
It really isnt something that can be described or understood until it actually happens to you. :) its the best, happiest, strongest, scariest love you could possibly imagine.
Re: Maternal Instinct: how does it feel?
all i can say, is that to be mothers become really demanding and Moody ![]()
Re: Maternal Instinct: how does it feel?
Hey! During pregnancy, the hormone levels double every 24 hours. And they dont return to normal levels for a few months after the birth.
A little understanding please. And ALOT of chocolate :)
Re: Maternal Instinct: how does it feel?
^ re: hormones.... seriously????? whoa.
Re: Maternal Instinct: how does it feel?
all i know is that when my mom came back from her first umrah, she said, "it was the best feeling in the world to be in mecca but the happiness i felt while giving birth to my first baby was still the most happiest moment of my life"
i think i realized that day when i meant to my mom. regardless of our arguments, disagreements and all, the fact remains that she loves me.. ALOT. sometimes when i imagine what i would feel like when i have my baby, i get tears just thinking how special that moment will be. i love babies!!!!!
Re: Maternal Instinct: how does it feel?
Its amazing. Then after the birth, you get all these emotions of love, and fear about how to raise the child well..etc...but you just feel so happy & proud. I had c-section for my son when he was born, and when I 1st met him (when I finally woke up like 4 hours later....)....my mom said I never looked so happy before
Re: Maternal Instinct: how does it feel?
im so petrified of babies... not the giving birth part because you know, you gotta do that, its inevitable, but the raising them and being responsible for their lives part. scares the crap out of me, let me tell you. SUCH a huge responsibility!

Re: Maternal Instinct: how does it feel?
Agree with you Hin, being a mother is a gift from Allah.
Motherhood comes naturally. The feeling is undescribable. When I held my first baby in my arms, I wondered how I could ever stop looking at her, I felt a bond that was so deep and a responsibility that was so inevitable.
I asked my husband about his feelings, and he felt sort of the same way...
Re: Maternal Instinct: how does it feel?
only sort of? i want some more dad's to speak up in here... sometimes i feel do they even really connect because for 9 months, mom's are growing babies inside them- how can you not develop a bond, right? but for dad's, its just observing and feeling the occasional kick and putting together nursery furniture. how do they feel when the doc pulls the little one out and hands it to them?
hin... dude, thanks man, but i hope you're right! i really do! btw, how many kids do you have? you sound so well-versed in this feeling... 4? 5? lol
Re: Maternal Instinct: how does it feel?

Well, I guess "sort of" is incorrect. We now have 2 daughters and the relationship between my husband the kids is one that I admire and adore. They are simply crazy about each other. The older one who can express her feelings is hurt when dad is hurt, she brings him water or food when she hears that he's thirsty or hungry...she gives him out of her share, she helps me pack his lunch, she puts a blanket over him when he dozes off on the sofa...she is only 5. She says "because he is the best dad in the world."
The "thandak" in dads eyes when he carried his girls when he comes back from work summarizes his emotions for them.

Fathers cannont replace mothers role ... thus cannot replace her place in child's life ...
But one thing I can tell you. Fathers are as crazy about their kids as mothers can get . Mothers have more sensible approach towards upbringing, while fathers are theri to spoil the kids with their love. I know that sounds weird but really ... a kid gets a balanced, secured upbriniging if he/she gets both extremes with justified ratio.
SO when the doctor gave me my daughter .. I want to admit that I forgot about my wife .. who was still in pain at that time ...
:D sorry Honey
But the joy and love you feel when you hold your new born in your arm .. is unbelievable.
and at that time, I gained a new respect for my wife .. that she carried my bundle of joy inside her .. for 9 months .. and went through no-caffine, no sugar diet for 9 months ...
Amazing task .. my hats off for all moms ...
