Master bedroom color scheme ideas

ok my fiance and i are planning on getting the furniture and decorating the master bedroom here in Pakistan, just so we do have our space when we come visit here.

Could someone tell me:

  1. the latest color schemes
  2. wall colours that could go with them
  3. would be best if you could post some pictures

i am thinking of buying dark wood furniture. what colour scheme would go best with it ??

btw mods, i was confused about posting this in the wedding forum or the household affairs one. if you think it isn’t in the right place please do move it

thankss

Re: Master bedroom color scheme ideas

A light colour would be nice- creams, beiges etc. Colours which reflect light and make the space bigger/brighter. Also this will allow you to have any type of furniture you want, so it won't clash etc and can be changed whenever you want to update it.

Re: Master bedroom color scheme ideas

beiges and cream look great, i agree..they are just high maintainence i think..especially when we wont be around more than half the time !

i want to add one bold colour too, apart from a lighter colour (cream, fawn or beige) just a hint of it to enhance it and to add a funky touch to it.

any suggestions?? :)

^ No, please don't add any bold colors :(

Keep it simple and classic.. beige, creams, biscuits and the darkest could be a coffee brown.

Re: Master bedroom color scheme ideas

@Gina .. pata nai the classic simple look seems a little dull :(

but you are right it is just a medium sized room. adding too much of darker colours like red or so would give it a congested look !

Agree with the others, creams and beiges..

Re: Master bedroom color scheme ideas

If you really wanted to do a feature wall you could. Maybe something like a deep purple (mulberry) or have a wall wallpapered (an ornate design).

Bear in mind, if you have something neutral you could have any furniture you want.

I've done of my guest bedrooms in the same beige/cream/coffee color palette and highlighted the poster-bed with blockprint organza curtains.

You can add copper/bronze bed-covers and cushions to it..

One of the walls has a beige/olive paisley wallpaper though..

Re: Master bedroom color scheme ideas

^a feature wall seems a good idea. thanks ! :) but for that I would first have to revamp the lighting of the entire room to give it a warmer look.

somebody suggested dark wood furniture cream colour walls but with either

olive green rugs and curtains

or

for a bolder touch adding rust to it. as in rust curtains, bedspread and a rug.

what do you people think??

copper/bronze seems lovely :))

Re: Master bedroom color scheme ideas

On HGTV they showed a room with a deep purple accent wall! I fell in love with it:) Like neutrals, but think one wall must be a bold color. Gives the room spice!

Camel with a scarlet accent wall (traditional look--works wonderfully with a dark wood four poster bed)

beige and deep purple accent wall

cream and brown wall (will look nice with turquoise and brown decorations) and creamy orchids

Re: Master bedroom color scheme ideas

paint is just paint, u are not married to it, when you get tired of it repaint.

to start off though keep it simple and clean, add colour through accessories. easier to swap them out for season or mood.

Re: Master bedroom color scheme ideas

i'll go for a "black'n'white" theme for my room

Re: Master bedroom color scheme ideas

what about lush purple .. it looks nice also ??

Re: Master bedroom color scheme ideas

orchaid with silver and orchaid bedding and acessories. Dark furniture will look good.

Re: Master bedroom color scheme ideas

I think the bedroom should reflect on both ur characters beige's and browns are ohhh so boring

i would love to go for lilacs and purples but my fiance is totally against em. says they look TOO girly. :p

so far, this seems the most appropriate.

dark wood furniture, cream colour walls with rust cushions bedspreads and rug :)

not really. U could paint one wall with a bold colour and add an over sized mirror along with wooden flooring which will give the illusion of a bigger more spacious room.

I think home sellers mainly stick to boring colours like beiges and browns so they can attract more buyers. So unless ur in lov with those colours, I would do a lil research ask ur fiance what colours he likes and dislikes and put ur own mark on the room and make it into ur special sweet haven :)

Re: Master bedroom color scheme ideas

and now i am looking for some ideas too :hinna:

We have a victorian home … so the rooms are pretty large mashallah. I want to design three rooms on the same floor …

first issue is the color scheme for each room … hubby insists he wants every room to look different :bummer: so that will mean different carpets too .. dont ask me why but he is simply insisting it and Its out of control :naraz:

So please can anyone give me some ideas? I dont know if i should go for neutral shades or bright colors , I am sick of neutrals coz in all of my homes we have had neutrals and beiges .. I have always liked red , but we are doing the kitchen in red ( bold wall style ) . we dont want overdoze of red …

So what options do you guys recomend?
We have black leather bed … please advise , what carpet, curtains, bold wall , should be select?:hmmm:
