s far as i know marhoom Zia ul Haq was a practicing and allah fearing muslim. further he was not a corrupt person making billions of rupees properties.
his role toward shariah based banking and financial system is commendable. like introducing the concept of modarba and musharika. further he did not promote and let other promote bayghaiti through media.
on top of it he was the master mind of war against the USSR and defeating the 2nd biggest power of the world.
as far as the MQM is concerned it was inevitable as urdu speaking community wanted a political representation in parliament. and late zia exploit the opportunity well. MQM survived even after his death Unlike PML Q , the brainchild of musharraf.
for other factors it was the fall out of the war......... and after war every country pay the price. but the main culprit is USA who left the Afghanistan after grinding their axe rite after the USSR defeat without taking ne measure to establish a multilateral govt. it was CIA who helped to establish the afghan to set up the laboratories to produce heroin. the aldehyde used in heroin wud import from the Europe and USA. and the whole purpose was to finance the entire operation here.

The day we have 50-50 split(a balance) between Leftie socialists and free marketers in Pakistan, we will progress as a country.

Socialism creates the sense of entitlement,

Not true. Present day situation in Pakistan is due to his ill conceived policies. He kicked democratic government; subvert the constitution, manipulated judiciary system, encouraged corruption in politics, military and in bureaucracy. He was definitely a bad omen for the country.
