I think, from male poets Iqbal is the only poet who hardly used takahllus. maybe he knew that he will be recognized by his poetry either way, whether he use takhallus or not.

even Faiz uses takhallus rarely. Same is the case with Mohsin Naqvi, Munir Niazi and as mentioned in OP with Amjad Islam Amjad as well.
