Matsui -- No. It's all relative. Societal expectations for people at the age of 12 were different in that time and place from America in the 21st century. "Kids" were in a different place mentally and emotionally. Our 12 y/o are generally still kids just beginning adolescence. At other times and places they are on the verge of adulthood.
