apologize to me not to her ![]()
Re: MARRYING YOUR COUSIN...
I prefer 'second cousin' over 'cousin' =) a second cousin is like a stranger in the family.
Angel, Hazrat Aisha (RA) was prophet (SWT)'s close friend Abu Bakr's daughter whom he was married to. His and Hazrat Khadija (RA)'s daughter's name is Hazrat Fatima tu Johra (RA) the only child of his who survived. =)
Nia Khan, good post ;) I will try meeting his mom when I go back to my Desh, hope things will Inshallah work out the way you suggested.
Re: MARRYING YOUR COUSIN...
It's not disgusting.
Focus more on establishing a relationship built on trust, honesty, understanding, respect, and faith. How you get there doesn't matter.
Re: MARRYING YOUR COUSIN…
Why not… If u like some one from your cousins and he/she is also intrested in you then why not…
I am also going to marry my cousin ![]()

Marrying your cousin? No...I find that extremely sick..its like marrying your brother/sister. I mean how could you love someone after marriage like a husband and wife? Its incest?
Are you in your senses? How is this incest? It is perfectly moral, legal and allowed in Islam. Dont use words which you dont understand and comprehend. Medical reasons are a totally seperate issue and they can be discussed but calling it Incest is totally unacceptable.
Re: MARRYING YOUR COUSIN...
^ this is what I intended on saying, took the words out of my mouth
Re: MARRYING YOUR COUSIN...
some of the replies in this thread show clearly how one's thoughts and beliefs can be influenced by culture, in this case non-muslim culture

This is what I've heard too. Apparently it is wise to try and skip a generation ie if you are married to your cousin, try to avoid marrying your children to their cousins too. However, their children should be ok to do so.
Re: MARRYING YOUR COUSIN…
[quote=AnGeL EyEs]
My personal view on this matter (as discussed previously on similar threads)…I wouldnt marry my cousin simply because it can cause many problems w/in the family…it can break a family apart. quote]
This is my concern too…
I was talking to a close friend recently who married her first cousin, with whom she got along extremely well prior to marriage
However, after a few months of marriage, any disagreement turned into a mudslinging match about past family feuds (mainly instigated by her MIL) ![]()
Unfortunately the marriage didn’t work out and the 2 families are no longer on speaking terms. This is what really concerns me about marrying within the family…

that was a typo....i meant to say Fatima (RA)
in any case.....u get my point ;)
Re: MARRYING YOUR COUSIN...
It is allowed.
I won't marry anyone in the extended family anyway.

good post....
just because YOU may not want to marry your cousin doesnt make it incest or disgusting.....
fact is you cant make whats halal to u haram......and marrying a cousin is perfectly halal. It cant be incest because your cousin is non-mehrem to you no matter what you think you cant change that.
People have become so westernized in their thinking (in terms of religion)....now that is what i call DISGUSTING!
Re: MARRYING YOUR COUSIN…
tooobaaa… how many times have this been discussed… oh bhio/bhenooo jis say dil mein aataa hey shadi karooo:smack:
it has beeen clearly defined in Quran WHOM NOT TO MARRY = bottom line !
Re: MARRYING YOUR COUSIN...
If you don't want to do it, don't do it. No one should be forced into marriage anyway.
Likewise, you should not be insulting other people's relationships. Have some respect.

Also...i would like to explore different cultures, customs, and/or traditions. I think this broadens your horizons a bit.
Well said:)
Re: MARRYING YOUR COUSIN...
It is allowed but one should also try to avoid it i heard, if someone can provide this hadeeth i am on about (forgot it unfortunately). Me personally i wouldnt mind but whatever is for the best Insha'ALLAH. I want my parents to help me find someone good that will respect and look after them Insha'ALLAH.
