In coinicidence with the ressurrection of this thread, the BBC showed a news item last night on this very topic and featured some children who had been born with terrible abnormalities.

They showed a Pak drama that has been made to address the issue - not sure what it was called but it features a couple who are first cousins who have a baby with a genetic defect

There are many threads on this subject. I recommend everyone who thinks first cousin marriages are ok because they are sanctioned by Islam to go to site you quote. makes for a very sobering reading. When will you guys believe it. When you marry a first cousin and give birth to a defective child?

This research in recessive genes was not known in the time of Hazrat Ali.

It was in the papers today. Pakistanis in the UK have an additional 13 times (not 13%) risk of begetting children with disorders compared to the rest of the population.

Just because something is 'allowed', it need not necessarily be done
