Are Pakistani women really in love with their husbands for the most part? Or is our generation still marrying for the sake of marrying and just having to put up with a male roommate?
Re: Married and In Love
Define 'Love'.
Married and In Love
1) yes- not the "most part"...the full part
2) no
But I consider myself American of Indian-Pakistani descent, so maybe my view is different ..I don't think it's all doom and gloom.
Re: Married and In Love
Define 'Love'.
Now that's a loaded question.
Re: Married and In Love
what do you think it is, PCG?

Very difficult question and will need a long answer.
In a nutshell:
The definition of what constitutes love encompasses a wide variety of factors in a marriage and ....for a spouse to 'love' his/her counterpart.
This love is very different from love what we see in movies and what is described in poetry or songs.
Re: Married and In Love
Answer is yes and yes it may start as just a need to get married, but what is interesting that after marriage the love does develop and grows stronger and a flavor of sacrifice is added to it.
The better kind of love.
Re: Married and In Love
From reading these forums, it hardly seems like they are marrying for "love"...

Re: Married and In Love
Roommate. I honestly don't know anyone in like much less in love. A lot of girls I know started out marriage quite optimistically but they've all become quite jaded even the ones marrying for love.

Would you say its is because they have unrealistic view of love? or a love that does not evolve and change in how its expressed as lifestyle, commitments and circumstances evolve?

I think they are in love but sometimes it takes a while to figure out what love is for both parties, how they're expressing it as well as how much they're willing to put in to keep that love strong.
Understanding each other is not easy because it means adjusting your expectations of each other...which is hard.
Doesn't matter how in love a couple is or if it was an arranged marriage...its work.
Re: Married and In Love
It is a different kind of love a different kind of fire. Not the one with flames in which the moths die, but a slow, sustained, warm ember. Sometimes its hidden behind the cool ash, and you would think it does not exist or has died down. But its always there. You just need to fan it once in a while. Like its warmth, you have to be in it to feel it.
