Marriageable Age!

Re: Marriageable Age!

:salute:

Re: Marriageable Age!

@geminifromkhi : That part of the world where I belong, girls don't have a say in these matters. :(

Re: Marriageable Age!

Are you from Pakistan? Hi five!

Re: Marriageable Age!

A Pakistani trapped in India. :( My family belongs to Islamabad.

Re: Marriageable Age!

Agree with this, at 32 she still has enough time to have 2-3 kids with appropriate space between kids.

Re: Marriageable Age!

The priority should be what's best for the girl rather than how quickly or easily she can be married off..

Re: Marriageable Age!

.

Re: Marriageable Age!

This is definitely too young if you live in Europe or USA but as I said we do talk big but reality is different in Pakistan.

Re: Marriageable Age!

Marry when she is mentally ready to take the responsibility and her schooling is DONE. I'm sorry, yes, lots of nice guys exist who work with their wife on her career, but most do not.

So let's not kid ourselves. Finish your schooling, get your degrees, then get married. Don't let the insecurity of men bully you otherwise.

Re: Marriageable Age!

In a perfect world yes.

Re: Marriageable Age!

No, in a REALISTIC CHANGING WORLD THAT ACTUALLY EXISTS, this is totally possible. Sorry, women are no longer choosing to live in 1950's Pakistan, or abide by 500 A.D. Gender rules.

Re: Marriageable Age!

Do you live on planet earth? What REALISTIC CHANGING WORLD (Pakistan) are you talking about? Same Pakistan where they don't even have basic necessities of life like water and electricity and these people still vote for corrupt politicians to bring them back in power.

Majority of Pakistan is below middle class. You cannot compare a girl going to a government college with the one who was born in well off family by Pakistan standards.

Its like saying that Pakistan is actually what we see on ARY, GEO TV and HUM TV dramas in real life.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a sexist or against education for girls but I just said what I observed and saw in Pakistan (Punjab)

Re: Marriageable Age!

I'm talking about the educated class of Pakistan where apparently the culture the poor have taken out of MAJBOORI (i.e. marrying when they're still KIDS), is culture for them too.

Yeah, a LOT OF girls are now putting off marriage, and so they can get their careers done, and that's a good thing. Guys need to suck it up and accept it.

Re: Marriageable Age!

Whenever the girl herself feels ready tbh. For instance, my cousin is 21 and she's actively looking to get married which is way too young imo. On the other hand I've also just hit 21 and am in no way shape or form ready to get married for a good few years at least.

Re: Marriageable Age!

That's right, each individual is different. As previously stated, I got married at the age of 26 and now when I see people getting married in their early 20's I just think...eeeek that's SO YOUNG! Marriage is a huge, huge responsibility. Even though I had a love marriage, I would say that in hindsight it probably wouldn't have hurt for us to wait another 2 years (just for the maturity levels to increase lol).

Re: Marriageable Age!

Agreed, age is different for everyone, and life goals should also be factored in.

I just find it AMAZING how desis think - I mean why do you bother celebrating women like Hazrat Khadija (R) when you don't want women to get educated, work, and just think their purpose is to marry early and pop your babies? I mean just cut the charades, and stop practicing Islam, if these are your priorities in life.

Re: Marriageable Age!

What If someone refers Hazrat Aisha (R) would you categorize that is un-islamic then?

Re: Marriageable Age!

Why hazrat Aisha (R)? Why are YOU GUYS putting Hazrat Khadija (R) down by insulting her age, and her decision to marry someone younger and her decision to marry a second time, and that too in late age, and have kids in her 40's?

Because that's what is being done by the Pakistani community. They may not show it, but this whole thread speaks of disrespect for her.

Re: Marriageable Age!

I came to find out recently that according to some narrations Hazrat Khadija (RA) was only 3-4 years older than the Prophet SAWS. I don't know which of the two views the bulk of the scholars incline toward, I've heard from Mufti Menk that it's the former. But even if the latter view of the lesser age gap were to be the more authentic one, it's still met with resistance in our society. :/
