I would be really misdirected had I been sarcastic about Miss Director, I don’t want my GUPSHUP days to be numbered, not yet.

On a serious note nothing, in my opinion, is unconditional in marital life, my good mood, for example, is conditioned with her effort to server me good food and peaceful atmosphere in the home On the other hand her efforts to run a home like a home are conditioned with me being appreciative, caring and loving to her. All this is a part of a tacit agreement which is generally considered “unconditional”.

But what you wrote can be applied even outside marriage. Just a general human reaction and expectations.
