Marri ready to negotiate on behalf of BLA only

Re: Marri ready to negotiate on behalf of BLA only

Balouch Sardar should realize their own shortcomings and their own opression of the balouch people, before they point out towards anyone else. They are making big claims but if Pakistan liberate them, there could be fierce civil war between Balouch and Pushtoons over the control of Quetta. We have already seen a mini war over there during 1990s.

Care to elaborate on this mini war during the 1990s in Quetta?

I think the blame goes both ways. Sure the Baluch sardars have a lot to lose but the economic injustice particularly in regards to natural resources of the province should be resolved by Islamabad.

Re: Marri ready to negotiate on behalf of BLA only

There was indeed a big fight between them. I do not remember the year exactly. And it was before pre internet eras.

I mean there might be social tensions here and there, but I am not aware any large scale conflict between the two groups. You are describing a pretty violent situation.

Really, I would be interested in finding out more about this matter. Even though Pakhtuns form majorities in N. Baluchistan there is hardly an active movement to split the provinvce. Generally Pakhtuns and Baluchis have seen each other as brotherly groups, similar in many respects.

Re: Marri ready to negotiate on behalf of BLA only

Yes you are right. But if it comes to (Allah forbids) separation of Balouchistan, then there might be a big trouble over there between the two communities.

Re: Marri ready to negotiate on behalf of BLA only

Not just the 2 communities, but let's not forget the intra-Baloch feuds and how many people that has killed.

Baloch have a longer historical contact with Pashtuns than Punjabis and would therefore really have more reason to hate Pashtuns than Punjabis. Punjabis and Baloch have probably never had much contact until 1947.

If Pakistan fell apart (Insha Allah it wont) then Baloch would no longer have a Punjabi enemy but may turn their attentions to Pashtuns. Many Pashtun nationalists claim deep into Baloch territory and that offends the Baloch. Both groups claim Quetta.
The Baloch should be more wary of Pashtuns/Afghans flooding their province and taking the jobs IF Gwadar is going to become a success. the Afghan refugee crisi doubled the number of Pashtuns in Quetta whic created more resentment.
There has been Baloch vs pashtun fghting in Quetta within the 80's/90's. The Pashtuns in Balochistan are generally better educated, probably more likely to be employed and more evident in the bureaucracy in Quetta if not the whole of Balochistan.

The gov/agencies have been accused of supporting Pashtuns in Quetta against the Baloch.

Relations are very complex and enemies change overnight.
