You need to show 6 months worth of payslips and bank statements, if they are correct he can get his visa within a couple of weeks. I think you need to be earning over 1200 a month then you will have a good chance of getting the visa.
You need to be spending some of the money too, you can't just save all the money your making (he won't get the visa like that, believe me) like buying your weekly shopping etc, so it all seems believable.
My cousin is getting married in a few months and has started working a few months back, she's earning around that much a month and her lawyer is very sure that her hubby will get the visa inshallah. Its all about the papers, they need to be correct.
Obviously your situation is different because you have kids etc but talk to a lawyer, he'll help you out.
Btw your hubby's attitude is not right, are you sure he wants to even come to the uk?! You can't mess with the law, things don't just happen by luck with these guys!!
and does the sponsor have to be the spouse…my dad would have that amount, .
and if i did have over 16k as savings, how much would i need to earn- is that still 18k or whatever, whats to offset min incomewhats the minimum…
he does want to, but hes apprehensive too. itl be harder in uk he says, as we start from scratch, and he didnt like his previous jobs, but i told him his previous jobs were also due tpo him being on a student then work permit visas, alot of the time they ask for perm status..he needs reassurance, thats why i asked guys on GS to help me out to reassure.

Since the law has changed. I don't know much about previous but this is what you have to go through now. I'm very close to my cousin and this is pretty much what she has told is. Also If your hubby gets the visa he HAS to stay in the uk for five years before they give the indefinite visa. It used to be two years but they changed it
I don't know about that actually. As far as I'm aware what they look at is if YOU can support your hubby once he gets here. They need to see how you will (that's why you need a job) and if your making enough. But I guess If you have 16k it should be okay but honestly get a lawyer and ask. I know someone who got refused if there visa ONLY because the spelling of the surname was different from the passport - total accident!
Some one else got refused because thy weren't spending any of the money they were making lol
well, dnt need a lawyet yet, im going next year, hes coming the year or 2 after as he has parents commitments here and we actually had come to pak for 5 years but due to him seeing his mothers attitude to me, and generally other issues we agrreed that il go next year and he will come after a while. so no need to get a lawyer now..

how longs a spouse visa for.....2 yrs?
SORRY the link u sent is not loading for me....
nadz, I know you have a brain in there. please apply it. all this has to be YOU.
If you are earning above the threshold, you don't need to have a lot of savings, a few K would be okay. But you must be able to show you have had that job for about a year and show the last 6 months of bank statements to show that you can manage to live on that salary.
If you are not earning anything, then you have to have 65,000 in savings. Because you need to have the base 16K plus (shortfall (in this case 18.6K) X 2.5.
So let's say you are earning 16K, which is below the threshold. Then you also need to show savings.
Those would be 16,000 + (18,600 - 16,000)* 2.5] = £22,500
The spouse visa is now for 5 years.
Forget the previous law. This is law applicable to you now.
Thank you Stoppit for the detailed answers. My parents have been discussing perhaps moving back to UK and I def. needed some info regarding my SIL as she is not a british citizen like us.
No, we are currently settled in Scandinavia. Isnt the difference only in the amount he needs to be earning? Because my SIL has pakistani nationality, but permanent residency here in Scandinavia with us.
If she has permanent residency in Scandinavia, she is already settled in the EEA so I don’t think she will have the same issue. But I’m not sure. I feel that her situation won’t be the same but you should consult an immigration lawyer.
I think since your brother is settled and working in the EEA, she can apply for the EEA family permit to come back here with him.
**Although the UK is a member of the EEA, a non-EEA family member of a British citizen should not generally come to the UK using an EEA family permit. However, a non-EEA family member of a British citizen living abroad can apply for an EEA family permit to join the British citizen on their return to the UK if:
the British citizen has been living in an EEA member state as a worker or self-employed person; and
the family member, if they are the British citizen’s spouse or civil partner, has been living together with the British citizen in the EEA country.**
Hey, at least this new legislation will solve the 'British-Pakistani-boys-importing-innocent-wives-from-back-home-leaving-countless-British-Pakistani-girls-doomed-to-singledom' praaablam :D
