If you are earning above the threshold, you don’t need to have a lot of savings, a few K would be okay. But you must be able to show you have had that job for about a year and show the last 6 months of bank statements to show that you can manage to live on that salary.
If you are not earning anything, then you have to have 65,000 in savings. Because you need to have the base 16K plus (shortfall (in this case 18.6K) X 2.5.
So let’s say you are earning 16K, which is below the threshold. Then you also need to show savings.
Those would be 16,000 + (18,600 - 16,000)* 2.5] = £22,500
The spouse visa is now for 5 years.
Forget the previous law. This is law applicable to you now.
