Marius the giraffe

:((((

broke my heart…

but then i read some comments and it mentioned how it’s where meat comes from

think about chicken and cow and lamb and

but this just doenst feel right

and the reasons they gave…

Re: Marius the giraffe

Just Sad, ruthless killers i d call em, with no remorse.

Lame excuse.

Re: Marius the giraffe

wish they could’ve just sent it to another zoo

i wonder what the social behavior of giraffes is like

and if his family will miss his presence :frowning:

Re: Marius the giraffe

My bro was telling us about this yesterday. Really really sad. Should have sold it.

Re: Marius the giraffe

This is awful :frowning:

Re: Marius the giraffe

They got loads of offers, even till the last moment.

I would imagine they calm and relaxed animals, but Just as Allah created every creature with a soul and emotions am sure they felt lost without a member of their family, and felt sad and no matter their social behaviour would be, am sure they miss him.

Re: Marius the giraffe

if they did am sure theyd have gotten a fairly good price for it esp with a gun to its head and anyone would have paid alot to save it.

wats even sadder they shot it and fed it to the lions. now thats totally stone cold hearted butchers.

Re: Marius the giraffe

Only 2 Years old :frowning:

Re: Marius the giraffe

if its ok for lambs and chickens, i dont see what is special about a giraffe. what is so cold-hearted about feeding it to lions? lions werent on a cabbage diet - they would have been eating some other dead animal, except that animal wouldnt have a photographer or a facebook page. lions can’t live on a vegetarian diet, but humans can. if you are a meat eater even when you have a choice, this shouldnt bother you.

Re: Marius the giraffe

i dunno queer

i don’t think it’s the same

This is a very sad story.
There were several options they could have made use of.
I think the zoo just did it quickly and cost efficiently. Plus fodder for the lions.

Queer i get what you mean. Its just sad.

We enjoy meat but dont want our chicken cut up infront of us. May not make perfect sense but its just one of those things.

So darn sad.

As opposed to throwing the meat away?

I think it was an easy way to dispose of the carcass and makes sense.

Re: Marius the giraffe

I don’t know if you’ve ever visited Pakistan and celebrated an Eid there.

Re: Marius the giraffe

If you can explain to me how you drew that conclusion from my statement, I’ll tell you if I have or not.

Re: Marius the giraffe

^When you said that you don’t want your chicken cut up in front of you.

Re: Marius the giraffe

Ahh fair enough.

I have visited Pakistan and spent Eids there and I am aware of what you are talking about.

Re: Marius the giraffe

He was cute. RIP Marius.

Performing a public ‘autopsy’ was unnecessary and those lions sure look a lot healthier than the ones here.

Re: Marius the giraffe

So, lots of human are dying around the world for many reasons, and this rich/businessman wanted to donate $700,000 to the zoo to save a Giraffe.

CNN made news, and people are crying buckets.

Yes, we are so ‘humane’.

:chai:

Re: Marius the giraffe

^ you are right but for some reason the news is still sad … It was because Marius had this really cute face I think …

Re: Marius the giraffe

Exactly my thoughts. I think media is collectively dumbing us down. They can manipulate us so easily, it’s embarrassing.

Millions of animals are killed everyday and we happily munch on them but if media picks up the story of one animal, we become humane animal lovers. How dare the zoo feed a giraffe to lions? Why can’t they just stick to cows, lambs and pigs?
