Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
Several decades ago we had gone to ooty there is todatribe that worship pandavas
besides that Drupadi is one of the 5 important women in Hinduism alongwith Sita Mayya and Kunti Mata :)
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
here you go:
was the founder of the Durrani dynasty in Afghanistan. He was born in Multan of Pakistan, the son of Sammaun-Khan, hereditary chief of the Abdali tribe. As a young boy, Abdali fell into the hands of the hostile tribe of Ghilzais and kept as a prisoner in Kandahar. On March 1738, he was rescued by Nadir Shah, who had him guard over some regions that are now in the North Western Frontier of Pakistan. **Nadir Shah was known to be a child molester and it was not a surprise that he kept Abdali as one of his slaves. :hayaa:
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
Lol not such a good initial history of Ahmed shah baba :D
After Aurangzebs death it seems that the moguls were squeezed by afghans on one side and marhattas on the other side.
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
It is written in Mahabharat, it is story of princess not ordinary masses, same way even heaven is reserved for princess, Garibon ko kaun puchta hai:D
They don’t teach about Later mughals, like Muhammad Shah rangeela:D, Farrukhsiyar, and most importantly syed brothers:confused:
[quote=“muqawwee123”]
Well said. But who besides, Aurangzeb was involved in bulldozing temples?
It started with arrival of Mahmud of Ghazni, through out Indian history one or the other hot headed governor of the province destroyed temples, infact none of the great temples in Gangetic planes are as magnificent as southern part of India where muslims ruled for very less time, even after defeating Vijaynagar army, predominantly muslim army of Bahmanis destroyed entire beautiful city of Hampi:(, Kashmiri Islam was sufi minded, and Barfani baba is undestroyable:D
He was unique in his own way, he used to consult astrologers before campaign and used to destroy temples for political purpose and most importantly temples to this day have too much of gold:D
He already killed Ra.one:D
Aurangzeb gave Abdul wahab this idea, Wahab is unique personality and highly polarizing, either Muslims love him or hate him
Relations between Sikhs and Pashtoon deteriorated because of this, in past, pashtoon covered sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh almost all time and most specially in Battle of Chamkaur. But Abdali’s behaviour destroyed that goodwill, hence entire Khalsa army was against Pathans and people like Hari singh Nalwa become symbol of sikh cruelity:(. Maharaja ranjeet singh got Koh-e-noor back, after defeat in Anglo sikh war, sikhs gave it to Angrez
Those are tribes, these gods initially would have been some forest god later got superimposed by Pandavs, assimilation and imposition is nature of hinduism popularity.
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
nothing new in Afghan history. Even Babar was known for this act and admit that in his Tuzk. Taimur lane also reported to kill first man in his life because of this act ![]()
PS: Veena Malik also refused to visit Peshawer for this. ![]()
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
Was Rani of Jhansi a Maratha? If she was then seems that Maratha- Mughal relationships grow better when fighting against British. ![]()
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
Jhansi ki rani's may have been rajputain?
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
Uncle aap ne meri sari hopes pe fire brigade ki tarah pani pher dia ![]()
With Rani of Jhansi being a Rajput (which is not a big deal for Mughal-Rajput relationships), it seems that Maratha never reconciled to Mughals ![]()
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
Probably, because they can;t bulldoze temples ![]()
Lols… What a easier way to be successful in this world as well as world hereafter ![]()
But how Tipu was never condemned like Aurangzeb and even DD portrayed him positively?
Thanks God he didn’t play Akbar ![]()
What about Shiva ji’s religious ideology? Was he a religious person or a person who used religion for politics?
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
But they can add another two chapters in class 8 history to blow our brain out, Later Mughals are more in number than Great mughals and far more interesting in character:D
More importantly temple had gold and other valuables:), Tipu wasn’t able to defeat Travancore and we recently saw 90000 crore material in its valult:), average donation per day in Tirupati is 2 crores:D
Indian government policy, Tipu lost to british that is why he was made symbol of Indian freedom:), this helps in amalgamating two major religion of India, History isn’t that imporatant, future is even more:D, Secular socialist democratic republic of India:k:
Depiction of history in both Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven is incorrect but the thoughts of the movie are far more powerful, Bollywood made error in both:)
Precisely, shivaji’s ideology is of Marathadesh, his navy was always commanded by Muslim admirals and If I remember right, his bodygaurds were also local muslims, Aurangzeb was very unlucky from Punjab to Deccan where ever he put is hand the area started to have trouble, God wasn’t on his side, though his smart rule mughals had slower end,he died at the age of 97 as a king, his successors were already in 60s and had to face Marathas whose commanders were in 20-40 age group:)
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
^ And Maratha women also fought against Mughals :) Now I also read that Rani of Jhansi had a link with Peshwas :)

Peshwas were brahmins and the type of education their women had/has is still unmatchable:D. Jhansi ki rani, Lakshibai was born marathas, his brother Nana Saheb led revolt from Kanpur:), Tatya Tope was another maratha leader. Most of the foot soldiers were Poorbiyas, from Awadh. British were supported by Gurkhas and Sikhs, Sikhs involvement was to bring the most humiliated end to Mughals, as they always held mughals responsible for their apathy, after fall of delhi in november 1857, sikhs even ate pork in Jama Masjid and danced:), if british would have lost in 1857, today we might have had 100 countries in the subcontinent similar to Europe:)
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
true, even Mangal Pandey was a Brahmin. With the participation of Rani of jhansi in Independence war, it is obvious that be it Marathas or Mughals everyone fought for his share of power :)
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
Where was this marhatta confederacy based?
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
I think it was based in Deccan, South India.
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
^^
nope maharastra............
that's why u see siva sena (meaning siva(shivaji) sena (army),they feel soliders of great marata empire
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
Interesting fact about the name of Shiv Sena. Is Aurang Abad is also in Maharashtra. I confused it with Deccan, because I read that Aurangzeb had to pass many years fighting on front of Deccan.
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
Marhattas really bugged the moghuls and I don't think they completely came under their control fully.
Re: Maratha - Mughal Wars
True, after Aurangzeb's death Marathas took all the agla pichla hisaab from Mughals and made them easy pray for English :D In fact, this tussle between the two groups benefited foreign rulers by providing a chance to occupy their lands. Some scholars (like Shah Wali ullah) sought help of Afghans against Marathas, but they just came here to loot and went back.
