He was in for his 2 minutes fame and he got more than that. He is such an actor and his lawyer (i.e Akram Shaikh) is no less. He actually came upto Dubai to “check” the reaction of Pakistan Army. (read here). He want a landing at chaklala air base with a battalion for Army (around 400-800 personals) guarding him.

In this matter I don't think that mansoor ijaz has lost anything, the losers have been army and isi chiefs; and the supreme court.

If the supreme court allows him to give his evidence on video conference then they should also explain why they have got hussain haqqani in virtual house arrest? They could have taken his evidence through video conference as well.

That would be applicable only if the witness was to support Zardari/Gillani ran away because you know Zardari and Gillani are the weakest personalities in country.

If you make a statement, knowing 100% what the reaction will be, then are not wiling to defend it when that reaction occurs, it erodes your credibility even more.
He was told he would be given security, but he wanted to be treated like a visiting head of state!

That might be true if case is not this well publicized and person's citizenship is not that of USA. With case soo much publicized, govt assuring all sort of securities, if he is still saying NO, then its lame. He was told that he will be given strict security but he was asking for 'Presidential level' security. I am sure ager Govt kul keh dai k theek hai, we will give you Presidential level security, he will pick some other reason to NOT COME
On top of it, didnt he know that it will not be wise to go to Pakistan with the word go? why all the drama of getting visa, giving interviews every night to Pakistani media and then even travelling to Dubai --- all this surely for 2 min fame.

I agree....with a US passport and all the assurances from the agencies he should feel confident enough.......but honestly......we don't even feel confident sending our loved ones back there without all this history.

The government has done a very good job in making sure Mansoor Ijaz doesnt make it to Pakistan. The statement by the 'honorable' prime minister was the dumbest of all when he said '(security kay liye) SHO to mein ney hi appoint karna hai', and Rehman Malik saying that Ijaz could be put on the ECL.....
Seems like the govt has achieved its objective.

Mansoor Ijaz and his lawyer Akram Shaiekh are just playing politics at Pakistan’s expense. Now he demands that he will only come to Pakistan if there is no-one related to PPP and their allies are included in his security details.

I don't blame him for not coming to Pakistan. Would any one of us in similar conditions go there, I don't think so. When there is a chammar like Zardari around no one is safe. Supreme court should take his evidence via video link.

I totally understand what you are saying EB. If I was in similar situation, I will also not go but I wont do all the dramey bazi. I have problem with his and his lawyer's dramey bazi. This should tell a lot about his character and seriousness.
