An Arizona business executive was jailed for seven years for sexually assaulting a sleeping woman sitting next to him on a Delta Air Lines flight from Dallas to Boston.
A statement from the US Attorney for Massachusetts said that on April 5, Deepak Jahagirdar, 55, laid a blanket over the 22-year-old woman who was returning from a holiday, unfastened her seat belt, unbuttoned her pants and assaulted her by touching her genitals.
“The woman immediately pulled Jahagirdar’s hand from her pants and fled to the rear of the aircraft where she reported the assault to the flight crew,” it said.
The crew alerted four US Secret Service Agents who were on board the flight, returning from an assignment in Texas.
The airliner was met by state police in Boston but Jahagirdar briefly tried to escape by trying to flee in the walkway between the plane and the airport.
Skin cells taken from Jahagirdar, an Arizona man whom authorities said did not know the woman, showed a “significant quantity of the victim’s DNA was present on his hands” after the incident, the statement said.
After his release, Jahagirdar must pay a $US25,000 ($A32,500) fine and be supervised by authorities for two years.

therez waz sum similar kinda situation few yrz back in India but he got away by just paying 200,000 Indian rupees to that girgl
this is why i refuse to sit next to men when traveling to pakistan...last year on PIA they wanted me to sit in the middle seat with a man on boths sides....i refused and even got yelled at by the staff...i just didn't feel safe and i told them to give me another seat some where else....PIA sucks when it comes to things like this....
Travelling to Pakistan is always an adventure. The first time I went, although I was sitting with my mother, pretty much all the men on the plane were ogling like crazy. I ended up taking my jacket and hiding underneath it for most of the flight.
This man is sick though. Hopefully, he'll serve some time in jail instead of getting off lightly with a fine.
lol…my sister was on PIA and when she fell asleep the guy next to her started touching her feet…so she kicked him in the face and got up and told the staff but as usual all they did was change her seat.
i dont know which PIA flights do u all go to.. everytime we went with PIA, the crew was soo nice from .TO- to London.. the crew was awsome, has mukh qism ka.. there were mostly family travelling, hence no ogling shogling. i was sitting beside a very smart and parhay likhay uncle.. n we talked about politics to religion etc. from London to Khi was the snobish crew. khair… we even made friends with air hosts n hostesses. i’ve always enjoyed my travel with PIA.
Gulf Air was a different story however.. i’ve never seen such weird ppl in my life. this indian dude kept asking for braundy (brandy) and chicken every half n hour, and when he slept.. he snored so loudly that poor gora sitting beside him sar pakar kar baitha raha
the crowd does get weird n perverted when passengers boards from any middle eastern countries though.
Sarah don;t be silly and jump to generalisations alright? In this case there is a possibility. You honestly think any guy would do such a thing on a plane??? where he has absolutely no way out/off??? Have u ever heard of anyone stupid enough to do such a thing?
Suroor I have had good experiences on PIA too. This once we were on the seat right by the exit and boy we had such a good time. The entire crew was so nice and friendly, such a pleasant flight.
Its not five days old…the news came out when the incident actually happened. He was just convicted five days ago. Its not my fault that you were living under the rock and just came out to look at the bright lights.
in 18 hrz flight goin 2 PAK 4m states itz hard to wake up (well i alwayz stay awake while goin to PAK but always sleep while komin back 4m PAK)
