I wish I knew which PIA flights you guys are going on...would love to see how nice the crew is.....I've been traveling on PIA (Perhaps I'll Arrive) my whole life and the crew has always sucked....they don't even want to give you a glass of water when you ask for it. I love Gulf and have never had to worry about falling asleep and having someone assault me....Now thank god Emirates flies to Pakistan because I never want to take PIA again....
We take this roundabout route using some airline - the past few times we’ve used virgin and then connecting to emirates to khi.
Its like 24 hours or more if you add up all the hours of flight plus the hours of sitting at the airport. I’m awake the whole darn time. I can’t fall asleep at airports or in the seats. So no problems here - and since I was a kid I’ve always sat by strangers, because somehow the airlines haven’t often given my family seats together (as of late, I’ve been traveling solo). And I’ve had plenty of idiotic men sitting next to me.
One kept throwing lines at me, but he was after my bag for some odd reason. Kept wanting to touch it and hold it - probably wanted to throw something illegal in there, but I kept an eye on it and clearly told him to mind his own business before I report him to the airline for suspicious behavior. Phir woh tang nahi kara.
oh one last thing...yeah the PIA crew is really nice to those who speak urdu and to the people they think are pakistani....maybe that's why i always had a problem.
hmm...i always get the impression they're nice to people who do their "gul" in punjabi.
We speak in urdu, and we used to have lots of problems before we switched over - but beside that, in general, its a very disorganized airline. Especially for domestic travel within pakistan.
i used to travel in emarites and british airways and kuwait airways all the time, when i was in middle east. emarites is obviously the best! the reason i chose to travel with PIA is, it’s a direct flight from T.O to khi with two hour stay in europe. no hassle of getting off .. or luggage missing etc. over all flight is less than 24 hours (including airport hours). i am travelling again this year with PIA. i hope we get to travel in one of those new PIA planes this time. :halo:
This same article surfaced last year (and was posted to GS)..... I remember it... it is over a year old.... apparently was posted somewhere as recent.... one sec.... unless there was another desi pervert arrested for the same thing......
will post a link momentarily from the news venue it was in....
Delta Airlines logged 30 incidents in the skies in one year, according to papers in the government's case against Deepak Jahagirdar, a health-care executive charged with sexually harrassing a sleeping 22-year-old Boston woman during a midday flight from Dallas to Boston on March 31, 2002.
Jahagirdar, a 1982 Harvard business school graduate who lives in Scottsdale, allegedly placed a blanket over the woman to conceal the assault. State police took DNA evidence from his hand.
Jahagirdar's attorney, James W. Lawson, is battling to keep the government from telling jurors about the frequency of sex assaults in the sky, calling the information ``every traveling woman's nightmare'' and likely to derail a fair trial.
Well! It is not a bit of a scare for the ladies only. On my first ever trip to the U.S., the first leg of my flight was from Karachi to Istanbul with Turkish Airlines. The flight had a plenty of seats vacant. I had to take an important exam upon my arrival in the U.S., so I was studying under the seat light after all the lights were switched off. After sometime a good looking white guy came and sat next to me. He introduced himself as a Swede who had come to Pakistan on some offical trip. We talked for a while and he asked me what I was reading. I told him politely that I have to study and want to take this time while everyone is sleeping. So he kept quiet for a while but did not leave the seat next to me. And then he tried to touch my privates. I pushed his hand away and gave him a real hard look. When he attempted again, I gave him my elbow in his ribs and told him to go away. I called the air-hostess, told her the story in a loud voice and they asked him to move away.
At another time while going to NY from Karachi, a girl almost raped me!!
