Seriously, nobody respects a woman doing mutah.
Mutah might be to avoid zinah and Allahjee did create
the need of companionship in us, but mutah/misyar is
not the answer. Socially it is looked down upon.
To go into a contract just for the sake of needs? disgusting

According to your source, Mut’ah was abrogated by second Caliph. Why are people recommending it now? It sounds like prostitution.

Yeah sure....of caz men love the women they can do Mutah with..... Its a couple addressing a need. However, nobody admits openly to practice or have practiced Mutah. Its regarded as the lowest of low things to do as woman. Its very disgraceful from a culturel aspect.
And I doubt such a woman would get a proper normal "rishta" afterwards, if society knew of her doings. Its a victorian point of view, but SABR is better than degrading oneself...... Or if one is weak and can not control the needs, then it is better to be truthful/honest and look for a spouse to marry.
In Lebanon, lot of virgin girls started to do Mutah. But they forgot, Mutah is not an excuse to be active sexually before proper marriage and a gudian to give away at the cermony...... So there was a fatwa issued, that this is only meant for widows and divorcees. None married girls should refrain from doing mutah.
For some students is a good way to have needs fulfilled and still not pay a dime to maintain the mutah-wife, they can afford a sexual relationship and by doing so, if they are Shia, they believe they are not committing Zinah.
At for the religious part of it:
It was during the long trips to foreign countries, where companions of Rasuulallah (pbuh) were being annoyed/bothered over their need of intimacy.... They had been away from their wives over several months...so they felt they could not concentrate themselves. Thus the decree of Mutah.
Im sorry, I was inable to find the reference...... Am at work.
Now later on, it was a sudden caliph forbidding it. And this is one of the FEW exeptions in Islam, that a law later on gets annulled.
