Mamas' Boys

Re: Mamas' Boys

Of course parents should be involved in their children's lives. But they should also allow their children to live their own lives.

And of course children should respect their parents and make an effort to keep them involved in their lives, but they should also have parts of their life that they share only with their spouse.

Like most things, this is a two way street.

First of all - there are usually TWO major influences in a a child's life. A mother and a father. A father also has the reponsibility of shaping their child's nature, so the entire blame for Mommy's boys can't be laid at the feet of the mother. However, obviously she has a large role to play in it's development.

But ultimately, once the childhood phase is over, the responsibility for STILL acting like a Mama's boy is the son's. And he needs to overcome whatever mental constructs causing him to act like he is still five on his own.
