My naani’s side is coming into town and already Dad is peeing in his pants. They had a flight delay in JFK and have been getting my father to make alternate flight and hotel arrangements - all stuff they can do themselves.
How do you married men deal with demanding and fussy in-laws.
We don’t prepare at all for family from my dad’s side visiting. But we’ve spent all day turning the house upside down for mom’s family. I’ve never done so much housework in my life. Dad has been running around on shopping errands for his inlaws and now that we have more time he is gonna try fixing some paint issues around the house tomorrow.
I’m like…really? It’s not like a dulhan is coming to the home…
My dad is like going out of his way to show how scared he is for his inlaws (their flight got delayed…it’s not like someone is dying) and constantly is telling my mom how concerned he is for them.
What a suck up.
Is this something you see? In-laws having their damaads so freaked?
My husband is treated like royalty among my family and friends. He shares a great and comfortable relationship with all of them so I can never see him being scared/worried to please them or imagine my family making him do stuff. However when I visit my inlaws, my mother in law does what you mentioned: new bedsheets for me (I have bad allergies so she makes sure nothing happens), new shower curtains, new towels, make room in my hubby's closet for my stuff, laundry and iron my clothes as soon as I put them in the hamper, stocking up my favorite cereal/snacks, and having her cleaning lady tidy up each and every corner of the house every other day.. not that I really even notice all that cleaning, but for my parents in law, it's a big thing when I visit. I have told my mil not to do it but according to her, she wants to make me feel comfortable while I'm away from my parents home.

MA MA all i can say.. u r a lucky girl.. such carin MIL.. :)
I tried 3 time but I could not read beyond " already Dad is peeing in his pants."
Whats the matter with you PCG? he is your dad... I think you are listening you mum too much about him.
This sounds like a women talking about her Ex husband or the husband she hates.
he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t sorry i don’t get the q…he is helping your mother in welcoming her family, i don’t see it as him being ‘scared’ or ‘sucking up’. as you said yourself “We don’t prepare at all for family from my dad’s side visiting”, maybe you are just not used to seeing family being welcomed warmly in your house, appreciate your dad for doing so and remind your mother of this gesture the next time his family comes for a visit.
ya you should bring it to her attention. having in-laws over, if you don't get along with them, is hard, so bravo to your dad for going out of his way to be accomodating.
