Because it is very very very different. FGM is abhorrent and inhumane. It removes the pleasure element for intercourse for women. For men it doesn’t.

Exactly! It could be a case of mutilation if it’s done wrong. There’s no right way of performing FGM because there is no extra skin to remove unless it’s Labiaplasty which some women get later in life. Male Circumcision is like Labiaplasty, FGM is not. FGM can cause life long complications for women and offers ZERO benefits.

P.S. Don’t google Labiaplasty at work.

I think it has got more to do with not offending people of certain religions. I remember how a few years ago there was discussion among physicians about risks and benefits of male circumcision where most were from US. Most vehemently opposed it and cited potential complications like amputaion, infection that could be life threatening and disfigurment. Issue was also raised of consent, where a baby is being operated when he cannot consent and benefits are not uniformly accepted by pediatric professional societies.

Then enetered into discussion a jewish physician who explained its importance in jewish faith and all discussion melted away in no time. I think if male circumcision was only an Islamic tradition, it would have been termed MGM.

There are experts that beleive male circumcision also reduces satisfaction because removed skin has sensory nerves that rest of organ does not have.
