Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

**Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

Watch 16 Year-Old Malala Yousafzai Leave Jon Stewart Speechless | Business Insider India**

many people question" why the western media ignored hundreds of other young girls who were attacked by taliban in past and decided to focus on Malala only" .. i cant comment on western media’s intentions (who can) but these people forget (and quite conveniently!) that Malala was a very proactive and thoughtful girl even before taliban attacked her… for safety reasons, she used to write her blog under the assumed name Gul Makai, or “Corn Flower” criticizing taliban and urging people to raise against them with a burning passion for reform and education…that makes her genuine and different from most of us…she was extraordinarily mature with some serious resolve at age 11…

but hey we just love conspiracy theories! dont we? the whole world including india is praising maalala but majority of Pakistanis are saying negative things abt her…that she and her father were American agents..blah blah…that is precisely why i hardly see any hope for Pakistan…we live and breath negativity and conspiracy theories.

Re: Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

Great interview! The people who are jealous of Malala's global recognition and the conspiracy theorists will keep rotting in their own self-prepared stew of denial and negativity. But they are nobodies! Malala, on the other hand, is a Pakistani and global icon. The most positive, courageous, and inspiring person that Pakistan has produced in a long long time.

Re: Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

Not everyone expressing reservations about Malala's claim to the Nobel peace Prize is a jealous hater. I have nothing but admiration for her courage, and maturity but as I see it Edhi sb is way more deserving than not only her but anyone in the whole world right now but he doesn't fit into the popular Western perception of Islam and Pakistan. Its easier for the West to look to Malala as an affirmation of their black and white perception of Islam and the Taliban as evil reincarnate. The Nobel Committee has had a history of overlooking communists or anyone left leaning in the past and now anyone openly perceived as an Islamist which we know Edhi sb certainly isn't (his humanitarian efforts span across faiths and geographical boundaries) but his flowing beard and his condemnation of Israeli aggression in the occupied territories are not likely to sit well with the simplistic and impressionable mindset rampant in theWestern media.

Re: Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

^ If philanthropy were to be the criteria for the Nobel Peace Prize this time around, a very strong case could be made for people like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. Through their foundations, they have given billions and billions of their own dollars in aid and most of that aid is going to developing countries so it's not even people in their own native countries who are benefiting the most from the philanthropy. Then in the developing world, there are similar charities as Edhi Foundation in Africa and elsewhere, and a case could also be made for giving the Nobel Peace Prize to people like Azim Premji and others like him.

There are therefore lots of contenders including many "left leaning" personalities who would be equally eligible for the award if it were to be given on the basis of philanthropic endeavors. Besides, not that it matters but most of the people, especially in recent years, who have got the award are 'left leaning' personalities so if Edhi sahab were not to get it, then that's not because of any conspiracy against him.

The reason Malala Yousufzai might win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2013 is because the momentum is on her side, because she stood up against the savage animals i.e. taliban who ARE the "evil reincarnate." Because she spoke for girls' basic rights and for universal education when schools like hers were shut down by those barbarians. Because she exemplified yearning for peace and normalcy, and in standing up to the savages who wanted to confine girls like her to the four walls of their houses, Malala showed courage and bravery that has rarely been witnessed in a person so young.

So if Malala Yousufzai wins the Nobel Prize, it will be up to Pakistanis to celebrate her achievement or to malign her. They have done the latter to the ONLY other Pakistani Nobel Laureate, Professor Abdus Salam because he belonged to a minority group. They disparaged him, ostracized him and even desecrated his grave after he died. But if Pakistanis do the same to Malala as they did to Professor Salam then, once again, they will be doing that to their own detriment.

Re: Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

very well said....edhi is great but every country has heroes like edhi but that is not the point... the point iss that why do we Pakistanis need to bring "this vs that" scenario in everything?

can you even imagine Bangladeshis doing that for Mohammad Younis? i mean if malala is being a source of honor for your god-damn country (which has nothing good to produce for sometime now), be proud of her instead of throwing in this vs that, what-if, why-her type scenarios?

i mean why would you do that? when the whole world blames you for epicenter of terrorism, you have a problem..and when the world wants to give you some honor, you again have problem? izzat rass nahieen atiee pakistanyo ko

go to any social forum and you will be shocked, perplexed, and shaken by the amount of hatred that educated Pakistanis are showing towards malala with all kind of conspiracy theories...

I will say same thing to all those pakistanis what you said

"The people who are jealous of Malala's global recognition and the conspiracy theorists will keep rotting in their own self-prepared stew of denial and negativity. But they are nobodies! Malala, on the other hand, is a Pakistani and global icon. The most positive, courageous, and inspiring person that Pakistan has produced in a long long time"

Waiting for seculars to invade this thread!

Re: Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

obama won the peace prize...who takes that shizzle award seriously?

Re: Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

You think her rape was faked as well

Gang rapes and other violent crimes ARE often reported and highlighted in the media here, don’t know where you got the idea that they’re not.. We don’t tend to get so defensive or embarrassed when talking about these things .. or try and deflect attention away by saying ‘what about this or that’..

Muslims against Muslims? The West isn’t needed to divide us, we’re doing a pretty good job of that ourselves..

Re: Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

did someone say she’s controversial? Its only a faction of confused pakistanis who made her controvercial otherwise she’s not even close to it.
And for all those who believe on stupid conspiracy theories, Nadeem Paracha has written a gem:

Malala: The real story (with evidence) - DAWN.COM

Not a rocket science to figure out that malala and her father sold their country for dollars and nationality. West needed an oppressed face in Muslim world to justify their invasions of Muslim countries and Malala's father on the other hand wanted some benefits in the form of nationality and money. Looks like both parties got what they wanted!

Re: Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

Some of us are really funny. We Pakistanis dont see what's written on the wall. We try to make a sense of something which "may be" happening behind it.
We believe more on "Gali mohalla" gossips, rather than going on facts.
From polio workers to Osama to Malala.. everything is fictitous in their eyes. Most of Pakis dont even believe there was anything like 9/11 or Abbotabad. Everything is a "Sochi Samjhi Sazish". Everyone is a jewish/american agent.

The BS prevailing about "excuse" is so absurd. As if west really need an excuse to do anything they want. Like they provided you an excuse of doing drones and all that.

But again, why think or look at the facts when we can trust all fancy conspiracy theories, and judge anyone as a "Agent". Isnt it easier?!!

Anywaz, I'm honoured to see Malala representing all of us on different stages, whether its UN or John Stewart show. Cheers! :)

Pervez Musharraf was also featured on the Daily Show too........ :)

Re: Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

at first i thought this was satire.. modren doctrin in modren warfar indeed..

Re: Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

that i completely agree...indeed majority of Pakistanis think likethis!

yahee to sharam kee baat hai.....but they are proud of it

Re: Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

that is what I was afraid of..finally the world is catching up with our stupidity..rest of the world will be stunned by the level of our idiocy! the world is saluting a 16 hr old brave girl but pakistanis her own countrymen are yelling at her..la howla walla qowata billah

yes many pakistanis support malala as well but majority brands her as a conspiracy agent…read this

*** That cynicism was echoed this week across Pakistan, where conspiracy-minded citizens loudly branded Ms. Yousafzai a C.I.A. agent, part of a nebulous Western plot to humiliate their country and pressure their government.

*** Muhammad Asim, a student standing outside the gates of Punjab University in the eastern city of Lahore, dismissed the Taliban attack on Ms. Yousafzai as a made-for-TV drama. “How can a girl survive after being shot in the head?” he asked. “It doesn’t make sense.”

last i remember our prime minister was begging Obama to meet him for few minutes last month but Obama gave him a shut up call…and here is Malala meeting whole Obama family! Jisay chahay Allah izatt day!

Re: Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

It seems her interview was coached, but more than that, I hope that she is not misused by the west for their own gains. I support her idea for women (and men...) education.

Now, I know that she has to move around to get funding for her malala foundation but I am fearful that she could become a benazir bhutto who did nothing for women or education in Pakistan. My advise to her would be to concentrate on her own education and become something as if you don't have a good understanding of politics, absolute power / idolization corrupts absolutely in third world countries like Pakistan.

Re: Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

absolutely nothing wrong with coaching...she is moving around on a global scale and obviously needs some coaching

and lets think rationally...what exactly west can get out of malala? how can they misuse her? by maligning pakistan? do they need to malign pakistan? we are already a laughing stock....when malala says that taliban used to kill innocent people, blew up hundred of schools, stopped girls from going to schools, and attacked her..is she lying? these are facts and every pakistani knows them.... i mean what do Pakistanis mean when they say west can misuse malala? how can they misuse her....we are already center of terrorism, fundamentalism and every terrorist incidence globally is traced to our land...how can poor malala be misused...

Re: Malala and Jon Stewart..must see!

just curious, how her giving speeches and raising her voice in front of western audiences help the situation on ground??
